Overview

We are seeking an experienced NICU Director Level III RN to lead a 99-bed Level III NICU, overseeing 150 FTEs and two managers. This leadership role ensures high-quality, patient-centered care by managing operations, staffing, and budgets while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes

• Manage unit operations, including patient flow, admission/discharge planning, and volume forecasting

• Lead interdisciplinary communication and collaboration across departments

• Oversee nursing practice, including policy, procedure, and standards development

• Ensure an exceptional patient and family experience

• Maintain compliance with legal and regulatory standards and pursue accreditation benchmarks

Qualifications

Licensure: Current RN license in Texas or compact license
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Bachelor’s in Nursing or Master’s preferred
Experience: Minimum 1 year in healthcare leadership; current NICU Director experience highly preferred
Certifications: BLS required; ACLS, NRP, FHM, RNC-OB preferred

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 2–3:1

• Daily census: 75 patients

• Staff works 12-hour shifts

• Rotating on-call shared with 2 managers
