Tax Director

Role is fully in office. Targeting 5+ years of experience, will look at 3-4+ years of experience. Public accounting and industry experience preferred. CPA preferred. Role reports to/supports CFO. Great benefits, 2-3 weeks PTO, 1-week sick time, free daily lunch, free on-site medical clinic.

Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • CPA designation required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master's in Taxation preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive tax experience, with at least 2 years at the manager level in public accounting or a private company.
  • Strong experience with entity-level and individual tax compliance and planning.
  • Demonstrated expertise in both cash and accrual basis taxpayers.
  • Thorough understanding of FAS 109.
  • Experience in agriculture or real estate industries a plus.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid CA DL/Clean drivers record may be required.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all tax functions for the organization including income, property, sales/use, and other applicable taxes.
  • Oversee preparation and review of federal and state tax returns for corporations, partnerships, LLCs, and individuals.
  • Develop and implement tax planning strategies to support business operations and long-term goals.
  • Provide strategic tax planning and compliance support for estate and succession planning.
  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiency through the use of current tax and accounting technologies (e.g., workflow automation, data analytics tools, dashboards).
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and filing deadlines.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of changes in tax regulations and proactively assess their impact.
  • Provide tax guidance and support on business transactions, including entity restructuring, acquisitions, and real estate development activities.
  • Coordinate and manage external tax advisors, consultants, and auditors as needed.
  • Supervise and mentor tax staff, ensuring ongoing development and performance.
  • Work collaboratively with finance, legal, and operations teams on tax-related matters.
  • Support CFO with tax provision and financial reporting implications.
