We are currently engaged by a distinguished client to identify an outstanding CPA tax leaderideally with a background from a Big 4 public accounting environmentto assume a pivotal position overseeing the organization's comprehensive tax function.

Position Overview This executive-level tax role is responsible for leading the tax department in full compliance with US GAAP and all federal, state, and local tax regulations across multiple entity industries. The successful candidate will possess a proven record of progressive experience in tax management, with at least ten years in roles of increasing responsibility, including supervisory or director-level leadership. The role is considered the highest tax leadership position within the company, reporting directly to the executive finance team (VP/Controller, CFO).

Key Responsibilities Assume full accountability for the preparation, review, and final signature of annual corporate tax returns and related filings. Lead all tax-related compliance initiatives, ensuring strict adherence to current US GAAP, FASB, and IRS regulatory requirements. Interpret evolving tax legislation, proactively advising executive leadership on potential business impacts and implementation strategies. Oversee complex tax planning, provision, and strategy, including ASC 740 income tax accounting and deferred tax asset/liability recognition. Manage internal and external audits relating to tax matters, ensuring optimal outcomes and risk mitigation. Mentor and develop tax staff, fostering an environment of continuous learning, technical excellence, and professional growth. Collaborate with cross-functional teams on mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic business initiatives, providing critical tax insight and due diligence support. Candidate Profile Active CPA license required; Masters degree in Taxation or related field strongly preferred. Minimum of ten years of progressive experience in tax with a focus on US GAAP compliance, including recent Big 4 public accounting or equivalent large-firm experience. Demonstrated expertise in technical tax research, tax provision (ASC 740), and financial reporting under US GAAP. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; proven ability to engage with C-suite executives and external stakeholders. Valid California drivers license and clean driving record may be required. Expertise in navigating complex organizational structures and managing multiple priorities with outstanding professional acumen. Compensation and Advancement Competitive base compensationcurrent consideration up to $275,000 for highly qualified candidates with director-level experience (14+ years), subject to matching relevant experience with the roles requirements.
