Position Summary
The Finance Director at Mid-Del Technology Center (MDTC) leads all aspects of financial operations, working closely with MDTC's Assistant Superintendent, Mid-Del's CFO, and the MDTC Finance Team. This role is responsible for overseeing annual budget development, department and program budgets, financial reporting, federal and state reimbursement claims, and keeping MDTC compliant with CareerTech (ODCTE), Mid-Del Schools, and OSDE requirements. The Finance Director supervises the finance staff, manages purchasing and activity funds, and ensures proper coding and budget transfers. Additionally, the position oversees financial procedures, guides the bidding process for equipment and construction, and ensures accuracy, transparency, and policy across all MDTC financial operations.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required in accounting or related business field is preferred.
Strong & proficient computer skills are essential (Intermediate - MS: Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.).
Minimum of 3 years of school finance is preferred.
Knowledge of CareerTech school finance and accounting is preferred.
Proficiency or willingness to become proficient in the ODCTE Career Tech Information Management System (CTIMS), as well as Career Tech guidelines.
Ability to build and format reports and analyze data .
Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive school, client and student information.
Ability to handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities .
Organization, accuracy, and efficiency are essential.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PPT) and Google Docs, Sheets & Drive. Skills must include the ability to build and format reports with MS Excel and Google Sheets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leads the MDTC Finance Team and works directly with the Assistant Superintendent and the district CFO on budget reporting, salary projections, cost report, projected budgets, coding, State and Federal Grants reporting, and the annual audit.
Leads, supervises and evaluates the Finance/ Business Office Personnel (Purchasing Assistant, Inventory Clerk, and Business Office Admin. Asst.). Manages and communicates information to the team.
Function as the Local Finance Coordinator in CTIMS (Career Tech Information Management System), prepare and submit quarterly claims for Federal & State Programs to the ODCTE for reimbursement. Oversee the maintenance of ODCTE IMD (Information Management Division) and TC-INFO through CTIMS.
Oversees the annual budget planning process by guiding MDTC instructors, coordinators, and directors. Works closely with the Assistant Superintendent and leadership team to review, adjust, and finalize budgets that support MDTC's goals and financial priorities.
Completes and submits CareerTech financial reports including but not limited to the cost report and financial information required by ODCTE, Mid-Del Schools, OSDE and IPEDs financial data.
Oversee operating budgets and process transfers in order to balance allocated monies. Ensures MDTC staffing positions have the correct OCAS coding.
Ensure staff are following all procedures and processes regarding allocated & activity accounts.
Oversee all financial processes throughout the building to ensure accuracy and adherence to policy. Review and approve all MDTC purchase orders and requisitions. In addition, provide guidance to the Assistant Superintendent and Directors on equipment and construction bidding and the purchasing process.
Attend professional development meetings, community events and annual conferences.
Additional duties that may be assigned by the MDTC Assistant Superintendent.
