Director of Manufacturing Operations - Life Sciences & Genomics

Position Overview

A pioneering life sciences company is seeking a visionary Director of Manufacturing Operations to lead their state-of-the-art production facility in Louisville, KY. This strategic leadership role will oversee a team of 40-50 employees while driving operational excellence, automation initiatives, and continuous improvement in a GMP-regulated environment.

Essential Responsibilities

• Spearhead daily manufacturing operations in a high-volume life sciences production environment
• Lead and develop a robust team of 40-50 employees through effective training, mentoring, and performance management
• Champion Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize productivity and efficiency
• Direct automation initiatives to enhance throughput and modernize production processes
• Partner with Sales, R&D, Maintenance, and IT teams to align operations with growth objectives
• Establish and monitor critical KPIs ensuring regulatory compliance and product quality standards
• Leverage data analytics for performance optimization and problem resolution
• Maintain strict GMP compliance across all operational activities

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Scientific or Engineering field (MS or PhD in Organic Chemistry strongly preferred)
• 8-10 years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience
• Demonstrated expertise in organic chemistry (oligonucleotide synthesis experience a plus)
• Proven success in implementing automation solutions and scaling operations
• Strong background in Lean/Six Sigma methodologies
• Experience in GMP-regulated environments
• Outstanding leadership, analytical, and communication abilities
