We are seeking a Director of Marketing and Business Development who brings vision, rigor, and initiative to lead the firm’s growth strategy while elevating our brand presence across all platforms. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader who blends business development insight, operational discipline, and creative sensibility to advance CetraRuddy’s mission. This individual will proactively drive new opportunities, cultivate high-level relationships, and strengthen the firm’s visibility across digital, print, and experiential channels. The role requires a proactive, collaborative mindset and a strong appetite for identifying and securing new business. A deep understanding of A/E/C industry marketing, strong design sensibility, and the ability to translate ideas into action are essential to success. The Director of Marketing and Business Development is responsible for defining and implementing the firm’s strategic marketing and business development vision, ensuring its alignment with business goals. This role requires consistent collaboration with the Managing Director and Principals, and direct oversight of a high-performing Marketing and BD team. Strategic Leadership Define and oversee the firm’s integrated marketing and business development strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives Evaluate and determine targeted opportunities by assessing research, strategic alignment, and overall fit to determine whether to proceed Collaborate closely with the Managing Director and Principals through regular updates, strategic planning sessions, and focused discussions on firmwide initiatives Lead principal group and one-on-one meetings to align marketing goals with firmwide initiatives Oversee team performance, professional development, and mentorship, fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and creativity Manage department operations including budgeting, resource planning, staffing, and file structure oversight Business Development Lead pursuit strategies for high-value proposals and interviews in collaboration with design leadership Identify and pursue strategic market opportunities through research, trend analysis, and competitive positioning Represent the firm at industry conferences, panels, and networking events to elevate visibility and build connections Cultivate and manage major client relationships, serving as a visible ambassador of the firm Collaborate with Principals to support high-level marketing and networking initiatives, including tailored outreach Marketing Oversight Guide the firm’s external communications strategy, ensuring brand consistency across all touchpoints Approve all key communications and brand expressions, including award submissions, public relations, web content, newsletters, digital campaigns, photography and social media Review and approve all Public Relations content, positioning and marketing to ensure consistency with the firm’s brand and messaging Maintain and evolve the firm’s digital brand policy, ensuring clarity and excellence in all digital and printed materials Prioritize and oversee the execution of marketing initiatives and calendars, keeping projects on schedule and aligned with business goals Stay current on marketing tools, technologies, and A/E/C industry trends to ensure CetraRuddy remains innovative and competitive Skills/Requirements Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, architecture, or a related field; Master’s degree or equivalent experience a plus 7–10+ years of progressive experience in marketing and/or business development within the A/E/C industry Demonstrated ability to develop long-term goals and strategic visions with the leadership skills to see them through to execution Strong understanding of the architectural design process, with a keen eye for quality and storytelling Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and lead presentations Effective team manager and mentor with strong organizational and project management skills Confident, outgoing, and motivated by a desire to identify and secure new opportunities Knowledgeable in digital brand strategy and experienced with communications best practices across platforms Programs/Software Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, M365) CRM Software Experience Experience with project management tools such as Airtable is a plus Pay Range: The salary is estimated between $150,000 - $180,000 plus bonuses and benefits, contingent on relevant experience and performance.
