Position Overview: The Director of Dental Services (DDS) is the clinical leader and strategic advisor for all dental practices in the region. Collaborating closely with the Operations team, the DDS ensures high-quality, evidence-based patient care, fosters a culture of clinical excellence, and enhances provider engagement, driving growth and success within our organization. This role strikes a balance between clinical expertise, leadership, and business acumen, and includes floating between offices to provide much-needed clinical coverage and support staff training and development. Key Responsibilities: Clinical Leadership & Quality Assurance Promote a culture of clinical excellence aligned with our organization’s standards and core values. Provide clinical oversight, guidance, and support to all regional dentists. Lead quality improvement initiatives, including peer reviews and clinical audits. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and board regulations (OSHA, HIPAA, CDC, etc.). Provider Management & Development Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and retention of dental providers. Conduct performance evaluations and implement development plans for providers. Mentor and coach clinicians to promote continuous growth and readiness for leadership. Facilitate ongoing education, clinical training, and team-building initiatives. Float between offices to provide clinical coverage and reinforce organizational standards through hands-on leadership and mentorship. Operational Collaboration Partner with Regional Operations Managers to enhance practice efficiency and performance. Align clinical and operational strategies to achieve patient satisfaction and productivity goals. Standardize treatment protocols and best practices across all affiliated practices. Engage in the integration of new acquisitions or new practice openings. Strategic & Financial Leadership Assist in establishing regional goals for production, collections, and case acceptance. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and execute strategies for improvement. Identify opportunities for growth, service expansion, or operational optimization. Patient Care & Risk Management Support providers in managing complex cases and addressing patient concerns. Mitigate risk by proactively overseeing and enforcing clinical protocols. Qualifications: DMD or DDS from an accredited dental school. Active and unrestricted dental license in practicing states within the region. Minimum 5+ years of clinical experience (3+ years in a leadership role preferred). Experience in a DSO or multi-site dental environment is strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of compliance, quality assurance, and dental operations. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills. Proficiency in dental practice management software and reporting tools.
