We're looking for a Director of Health Information Management (HIM) to lead our HIM department in overseeing the accurate management, protection, and maintenance of all patient medical records. In this pivotal role, you'll ensure full compliance with all state and federal regulations, licensing requirements, and Joint Commission standards, helping to uphold the highest quality of patient care. As a key member of our leadership team, you'll collaborate across departments, drive process improvements, and play an essential role in ensuring the integrity, security, and accessibility of health information throughout the organization.Oversee the Health Information Management Services (HIMS) Department in compliance with all federal, state, and accrediting agency regulations, including Joint Commission standards.Collaborate with hospital leadership, clinical staff, and administration to ensure medical records are accurate, complete, and properly maintained.Ensure the confidentiality and security of patient health information, and manage the release of medical records in accordance with HIPAA and other legal requirements.Supervise, train, and support HIMS staff, including hiring, scheduling, and performance management, to meet department and facility needs.Monitor coding accuracy, timely chart completion, and abstraction of patient data for reporting to state and regulatory agencies.Respond to subpoenas, legal requests, and interdepartmental inquiries related to medical records with professionalism and attention to compliance.Lead the development, revision, and approval of medical record forms and documentation practices to ensure ongoing regulatory alignment.Provide reports and data analysis to support hospital administration, performance improvement, and quality assurance initiatives.Stay current on evolving HIM laws and best practices, ensuring ongoing professional development for self and department staff.Foster a culture of professionalism, patient confidentiality, and service excellence in alignment with the hospital's mission and valuesYour Experience MattersWhat we're looking for:Education & Licensure:Bachelor's Degree in information management/medical records preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification accreditation as a registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), as determined by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).Experience:A minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience in information management is required, with direct experience in a health care psychiatric facility preferred.
