Assistant Director of Nursing - House Supervisor
Facility: Woodhull Medical Center (NYC Health + Hospitals) Location: 760 Broadway, Brooklyn, NY 11206 Contract Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Night 4x10-Hour (22:00-08:00) | Schedule: Saturday-Tuesday
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced nursing leader to serve as overnight House Supervisor covering all inpatient units during FMLA absence. This leadership role requires crisis management, staff supervision, and quality improvement in a busy public hospital.
Core Responsibilities
Administrative Leadership
* Conduct nightly rounds to all nursing units (ED, Med-Surg, ICU, OB) * Authorize staffing adjustments based on census/acuity * Lead rapid responses and code blue events * Investigate and document:
* Medication errors * Patient/family complaints * Staff incidents
Quality & Compliance
* Implement corrective action plans for nursing staff * Ensure Joint Commission readiness overnight * Audit medication storage/narcotic counts
Staff Development
* Provide real-time coaching to charge nurses * Conduct competency validations for float staff * Mentor new graduate nurses during night shifts
Requirements
Licensure & Education
* Active NY RN License (primary source verification required) * BSN (required) | MSN (preferred) * BLS/ACLS (AHA)
Experience
* 7+ years total nursing experience * 5+ years supervisory experience (charge nurse/manager level) * Public hospital experience (strongly preferred) * Expertise in:
* Staffing allocation * Union contract compliance (1199SEIU) * NYC Health + Hospitals policies
Technical Skills
* EMR: Epic proficiency required * Reporting: NYPORTS, RL Solutions * Scheduling: Kronos/HealthTime
