Vaco Boston has partnered with our client to help fill a Payroll Director for our client in Easton, MA. Key Responsibilities:
Make your application after reading the following skill and qualification requirements for this position. Develop and manage payroll strategies that support organizational goals and improve efficiency.
Oversee payroll processing to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely payments.
Manage retirement benefit programs, including 401(k) and deferred compensation, ensuring proper contributions and regulatory compliance.
Lead efforts to streamline payroll systems and processes, using technology to enhance performance.
Ensure payroll and benefits practices comply with federal, state, and local laws.
Work closely with HR, Finance, and other departments to align payroll operations with overall business strategies.
Guide and support the payroll team, encouraging continuous improvement and high performance.
Monitor payroll-related metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Resolve complex payroll and benefits issues and provide expert guidance to staff.
Prepare and deliver clear payroll and benefits reports for senior leadership.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; associate degree with relevant experience will be considered.
7–10 years of experience managing a payroll team.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification preferred.
Background in payroll-related budgeting and accounting is desirable.
Proven experience in payroll management, including both strategy and operations.
In-depth understanding of retirement benefit administration (e.g., 401(k), deferred compensation).
Proficient in payroll systems (e.g., Paychex, Paylocity) and system integration.
Strong knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
Effective leadership and team management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Clear and professional communication skills, including the ability to communicate with all levels of staff.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with payroll/timekeeping systems.

With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco/Highspring notes the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company’s 401(k) retirement plan.
