Position Summary
SRS Acquiom sits at a unique point in the M&A lifecycle, helping law firms, private equity groups, and dealmakers close transactions smoothly. We're at an inflection point - backed by a strong, established business and rapidly expanding. That means we need someone who thrives on building relationships, educating the market, and driving deals across the finish line.
We're looking for an M&A Business Development Director to own our Chicago territory. This is a true sales role - someone who wants to be on the phone, in meetings, and at events - but also someone who can think strategically about how to build and grow their book of business. You'll have a Managing Director guiding the broader strategy, but you'll be the one driving day-to-day outreach and relationship-building.
What You'll Be Selling:You'll introduce and position the following integrated suite of M&A offerings:
- Virtual Data Room (VDR) and Private Client Portal: secure document management for diligence and distribution throughout the deal lifecycle.
- M&A Closing Services: escrow agent, paying agent, and digital shareholder solicitation (signatures, documents, tax forms) conducted via the Deal Dashboard to enable seamless deal closing execution.
- Post‑Closing Shareholder Representation: protecting selling shareholders from post‑closing claims (e.g., working‑capital adjustments, indemnification, earnouts). This includes claims evaluation, negotiation, and distribution oversight. More than 60% of deals SRS supports face such claims.
- Loan Agency Services (less focus in this role, but part of SRS's broader platform): administrative agent, collateral and successor agent support with dashboard visibility.
In an environment where the company is at an inflection point with both solid historic business and new products and services that have huge upside potential, the Director will achieve significant revenue growth with their ability to:
- Represent, support & innovate the sales strategy of our suite of services to law firms, private equity, corporate acquirers, and advisory networks in the Chicago Metro area.
• Own the territory: build pipeline through outreach, relationship mapping, strategic planning, and sales execution.
• Educate clients on SRSA's holistic approach: how VDR, escrow, payment, and shareholder representation fit together to reduce friction and risk in deals.
• Lead presentations and product discussions across all client audiences - from one-on-one meetings to large firm settings.
• Serve as a visible market expert and ambassador for the SRS Acquiom brand and platform.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure smooth transitions once deals close.
- Remote flexibility - work from home between client-facing activities - but this person must reside in (or within daily driving distance of) the Chicago Metro area.
- Minimal travel (quarterly visits to HQ in Denver).
- Competitive package: base ($160k–170k) with a 30% of base bonus guarantee.
- Fast-moving team environment with clear expectations for growth and impact; traditional commission structure will begin after ramp period.
- 5+ years of business development or sales experience in professional services, finance, legal, or transaction-focused industries.
- Strong track record of meeting or exceeding quotas; demonstrable comfort selling high-value services.
- Executive presence and credibility with senior legal or financial decision makers.
- Ability to think and act both strategically and tactically - planning territory growth and executing day-to-day outreach.
- Background or familiarity with M&A, legal or finance is highly advantageous.
