Laboratory Director
The Laboratory Director at Metis QA Lab is responsible for performing the supervisory responsibilities according to OMMA rules and regulations, as well as overseeing the laboratorys quality assurance. The Laboratory Director reports to the Head of Laboratory Operations for our parent company as well as Ownership.
Shift and Hours
Monday thru Friday
Attend Set weekly staff and OMMA/State meetings
Schedules, including days of week, are subject to change weekly
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Acts as laboratory director regarding laboratory quality controls and employee efficiencies
Review the daily and monthly controls and corrective action
Oversee proficiency testing programs and calibration verification in conjunction with the Lab Quality Control Manager and OMMA requirements
Monitor all quality assurance and controls policies in the laboratory
Complete competency interviews and assessments with personnel at required intervals
Communicates with clients and customers regarding lab test and results.
Must have working knowledge of all phases of processing samples from accessioning to reporting of the results and proper handling of the test results.
Must have general knowledge of laboratory equipment and its utilization
Collects and forwards all appropriate customer feedback to all parties concerned
Be able and available to present lab processes and work to any customer, OMMA or in conference setting
Review new product testing lines with ownership
Maintain A2LA/ISO Accreditations

Requirements
A bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or engineering and with at least 5-years supervisory experience in a high complex laboratory with current state license if necessary. Must have at least 24 hours of college semester credit hours in chemistry and at least 2 years experience in the environmental analysis of ofrepresentative inorganic and organic analytes for which the laboratory will be performing
Must be able to legally work in the United States
Must know, understand and follow all OMMA rules and regulations
Ability to work agreed upon schedule
Must be punctual and dependable for assigned work load

Work Environment
The Laboratory Director will work in a laboratory that is a well-lit, ventilated and air-conditioned facility. The position will report to the Head of Laboratory Operations and Ownership. This position may require stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, handling or use of tactile information. Motor coordination, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, hand-eye-foot coordination is required. Lifting objects up to 50 lbs may be required. There is a low potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
