At Imagination Station, we believe that science belongs to everyone—especially kids. We're a small but mighty non-profit dedicated to sparking curiosity, creativity, and confidence in young learners through hands-on, accessible STEM education. Whether it’s through hands-on exhibits, engaging STEM programs, seasonal camps, field trips or unforgettable birthday parties, we’re making STEM fun, meaningful, and accessible for kids of all backgrounds in the greater Lafayette area.
We’re now seeking a dynamic, mission-driven Executive Director to lead us into our next chapter of growth and impact.
The Role
As Executive Director, you’ll be the strategic and operational leader of the organization. You’ll work closely with the Board of Directors, staff and community partners to shape and execute our vision, while also ensuring we stay true to our roots: kids, curiosity, and community.
This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who can toggle between the big picture and the day-to-day, and who thrives in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Development – Your Core Focus
Develop and lead a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes individual giving, major donors, corporate partnerships, foundation grants, and special events.
Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, sponsors, and funders, building a strong pipeline of long-term support.
Collaborate with the Board on fundraising campaigns and donor engagement.
Work to cultivate relationships with local community leaders to leverage both financial and site enhancements.
Track fundraising metrics and share progress with transparency and enthusiasm.
Organizational Leadership
Serve as the chief ambassador for the organization, building relationships with community partners, educators, and supporters.
Be a strong steward of our resources - financial, relational and our community.
Lead and inspire a small, mission-driven team—supporting staff development, program delivery, and operational excellence.
Partner with the Board of Directors on governance, strategy, and financial oversight.
Programs & Mission Delivery
Support staff in developing and evaluating programs that bring STEM to life for kids.
Ensure that all programming aligns with our mission, values, and commitment to equity.
Stay connected to the communities we serve and ensure their voices inform our work.
Who You Are
A passionate advocate for STEM education and equity
A visionary leader with at least 3-5 years of nonprofit or leadership experience
A skilled fundraiser with a track record of securing and managing diverse funding streams
A strong operational manager who can balance growth with fiscal responsibility
A clear communicator who inspires trust and builds strong relationships
A hands-on problem solver who’s comfortable wearing many hats
Experience in education, youth development, or STEM fields is a highly preferred
Familiarity with grant writing, program evaluation, and nonprofit operations is helpful

This is a part-time, onsite role that may expand to full time as we grow. This role will require some weekend availability, depending on staffing levels. Please note that as a small non-profit, we currently do not offer standard employee benefits.
