Epic Project Director Open to Contract to hire or direct hire Job Summary: The Project Director, under the direction of the executive steering committee and the project sponsor, guides the project team through implementation, onward to maintenance all while deriving long-term strategy and vision for the department. The Project Director is the central point of communication, maintaining a common vision, plan, and goal across all areas of the department. Primary Responsibilities: Providing organizational knowledge and guidance for the team to facilitate decision making. Managing the scope, cost, schedule, and quality of all current and future projects. Staff management and resource allocation. Being familiar with all aspects of implementation, maintenance and long-term options. Coordinating all project activities, including software and hardware, business and related tasks, establishing/maintaining a super user program, internal communications and change management, recruiting and engaging super users and subject matter experts. Establish standards around project delivery, templates and reporting. Communicating with leaders in the hospital(s), clinics, and billing office(s). Setting appropriate expectations across the organization in relation to current and future projects. Building and maintaining morale. Promoting the system and representing it positively to the user community. Reviewing the progress of any project regularly with Epic and organization leadership. Coordinating the organization's overall needs and direction with Epic. Required Skills/Abilities: Experience leading large teams of individuals and the ability to manage staff effectively. Strong communication and organizational skills. Past success with large scale projects. Key competencies: Demonstrating flexibility with respect to changing end-user business needs. The ability and willingness to see things in an open-minded way and examine an idea or concept from as many angles as possible. The ability and willingness to take ownership of work activities and ensure that they are completed in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner. The ability and willingness to recognize assignments or tasks that need to be completed, to seek out additional assignments or tasks, and to help others. The ability to communicate information clearly and concisely with project leadership and subject matter experts. The ability and willingness to learn new software and systems. Listening attentively to ensure that the intended message has been accurately received, holding responses until the person has finished making his/her point, and repeating information to ensure accuracy. Seeking, logically examining, and interpreting information from different sources to determine a problem's cause and developing a course of action to resolve the problem and to prevent its recurrence. The ability to gain trust and establish effective relationships with Epic counterparts. The ability to persevere in difficult situations, overcome obstacles, and reach high levels of performance when faced with stressful work situations and time pressures. Education and Experience: Bachelors Degree, any field. Epic experience required. Project Management certification preferred, project management experience required. Complete assigned Epic Certification(s) and/or training within 90 days of employment.
