We are seeking a dynamic, hardworking, strategic candidate to join Spotify’s Global Government Affairs team in Washington, DC as Director of US Government Affairs. The Government Affairs team understands the global and local policy landscape in relation to Spotify’s business objectives and advocates on the company’s behalf on critical public policy issues, including Spotify’s ability to compete fairly and thrive as a platform for music, podcasts, and audiobooks that welcomes artistic expression, ideas, perspectives, and voices. The Director of US Government Affairs will work as part of a global government affairs team, coordinating with colleagues and other groups at Spotify to craft effective, consistent positions on issues of greatest importance to the company. This position reports to the Head of Global Government Affairs and is located in the Washington, DC office.
Compensation Base pay range: $226,676.00/yr - $323,823.00/yr. The United States base range for this position is $226,676-$323,823, plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, 23 paid days off, and 13 paid flexible holidays.
What You 0ll Do
Engage regularly with policymakers with a focus on the Executive Branch, Members of Congress, and key Congressional Committees
Develop expertise on the public policy issues of greatest commercial and reputational importance to Spotify, including competition policy, free speech, copyright protection and licensing, and more
Identify and evaluate the top-priority public policy issues affecting Spotify and collaborate with the Head of Global Government Affairs and US-focused teammates to develop and execute effective advocacy strategies
Work closely with other groups and departments inside Spotify—including product, legal, communications, and trust and safety—to understand internal priorities and create policy approaches that advance Spotify 0s interests
Direct the work of consultants to advance Spotify A0s goals
Drive engagement, partnerships, and thought leadership on key public policy issues with external organizations such as trade associations and civil society organizations
Who You Are
10+ years of experience developing and implementing public policy strategies and interacting in a public policy environment
Experience working in government, for a company, and/or a trade association
Outstanding existing relationships and the ability to build new ones with Congress, the Executive Branch, civil society organizations, peers at Spotify and in other companies, and more
Demonstrated ability to develop innovative and pragmatic approaches and business-focused solutions to regulatory and legislative challenges
A strategic thinker with a track record of achieving results
Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to professionalism and collegiality
Outstanding written and oral communications skills to represent Spotify
Where You'll Be
This role is based in Washington D.C. We require this position to be in the office 4-5 days per week.
