This is a remote position. Director of Finance (Remote, U.S.) Evidence Solutions, Inc.
Overview Evidence Solutions, Inc., a nationally recognized provider of expert witness and forensic consulting services, is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Finance to lead all financial operations. This role is critical to supporting growth, maintaining strong financial health across multiple closely held entities, and providing oversight of select owner-level financial activities.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hands-on, and highly ethical, with deep experience in small business finance operations and service-based business models. This position works closely with the CEO, Owner, and external CPA, while managing a small team of staff and contractors.
Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Oversight
Manage daily financial operations, including AP/AR, payroll, cash management, and general ledger.
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes across multiple entities.
Prepare and review financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics.
Maintain strong internal controls, policies, and compliance standards.
Billing & Collections
Supervise part-time billing staff to ensure timely and accurate client invoicing.
Oversee accounts receivable, collections, and resolution of billing issues.
Reporting & Analysis
Deliver financial reports and dashboards for leadership, including cash flow, profitability, and budget-to-actuals.
Conduct ad hoc analysis to support decision-making and growth initiatives.
Tax & Compliance
Coordinate with external CPA on annual tax filings and audits.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local financial regulations.
Owner-Level Financial Support
Oversee personal bill pay and cash management for ownership.
Track and manage personal financial activities, assets, and liabilities in coordination with external advisors.
Leadership & Process Improvement
Supervise and support part-time finance staff and external vendors.
Recommend tools, systems, and process improvements to streamline operations.
Requirements Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
7-10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience.
Proficiency in QuickBooks Enterprise, Excel, and Gusto Payroll.
Strong knowledge of financial statements, budgeting, and cash flow management.
Experience in small business operations or professional services.
High integrity with discretion handling confidential information.
Preferred:
CPA or MBA.
Experience with multi-entity accounting or family office support.
Familiarity with legal services or expert witness industries.
Benefits Compensation & Benefits Salary: $95,000 - $125,000 (based on experience).
Performance-based bonus potential.
