Job Summary
The Director of Finance is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategic financial direction and fiscal integrity of Clin-Path Associates, PLC (CPA) and Clin-Path Diagnostics, LLC (CPD). This role will work closely with Pathology Billing Services of Arizona, LLC (PBS) to analyze financial data, trends, metrics, and reporting necessary to support accounting functions and decision-making.
Reporting directly to the Clin-Path Associates Board of Directors, the Director of Finance provides enterprise-wide financial leadership, overseeing planning, budgeting, accounting, compliance, and revenue cycle management. While the role is finance-focused, experience in operations is strongly preferred, as the Director of Finance will partner with other leaders on initiatives where finance and operations intersect.

Essential Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
  • Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with CPA’s mission and long-term business goals.
  • Serve as a financial advisor to the Board on capital investments, expansion, and sustainability.
  • Establish and oversee annual operating and capital budgets, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and fiscal accountability.
  • Lead financial planning, forecasting, and performance monitoring.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations for new business initiatives and service lines.
Finance & Revenue Cycle Oversight
  • Oversee all accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls in accordance with GAAP and applicable regulations.
  • Lead revenue cycle operations in collaboration with Pathology Billing Services (PBS) to optimize reimbursement and reduce denials.
  • Manage external financial audits, tax reporting, and regulatory filings.
  • Maintain robust financial policies and procedures to protect organizational assets.
  • Oversee cash flow, capital allocation, and financial risk management.
Operations Collaboration & Support
  • Collaborate with operational leadership on initiatives tied to financial performance, cost containment, and efficiency improvements.
  • Assist in designing and tracking performance metrics that support both financial and operational outcomes.
  • The Director of Finance is expected to contribute to operational planning and cross-functional improvement efforts.
Stakeholder & Partner Relations
  • Represent CPA in financial discussions with hospitals, ASCs, insurance providers, vendors, and external stakeholders.
  • Lead the financial evaluation and negotiation of contracts, particularly with managed care entities and key clients.
  • Coordinate with external consultants, legal advisors, and auditors on complex financial matters.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Provide leadership to finance and accounting functions.
  • Promote a culture of financial accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
  • Support succession planning and mentoring across financial departments.

Supervisory Responsibilities
Finance/Accounting Team: Oversight of financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance functions across CPA, CPD, and PBS.
Sales & Marketing Team: Oversight of marketing strategy, campaign performance metrics, and budget alignment to support organizational growth and business development goals.
 

Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in finance and accounting; healthcare or laboratory experience strongly preferred.
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, revenue cycle, and healthcare compliance.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing both Accounting/Finance and Marketing teams in a healthcare or professional services environment.
  • Experience supporting or collaborating with operational teams is strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies
  • Strong financial leadership with the ability to manage complex budgets and optimize financial performance.
  • Demonstrated success in revenue cycle management, financial planning, and risk mitigation.
  • Collaborative leadership style with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite), and financial modeling software.

This position requires a high degree of confidentiality and trust, particularly regarding patient data, financial records, and business strategies. Full compliance with HIPAA, GAAP, and all federal and state financial regulations is required.
