Base pay range $150,000.00/yr - $175,000.00/yr

The Director of Accounting is a key leadership position responsible for safeguarding company assets, ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting, and aligning financial strategies with organizational goals.
Reporting to the VP of FP&A, this individual will oversee accounting operations, lead the monthly close process, manage external audits, and contribute to forecasting and planning. The ideal candidate brings a CPA, public accounting foundation, and private industry experience—and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This is a hybrid work model and the company is based in Fairfield County, Connecticut.

Key Responsibilities
Oversee all accounting functions including payroll, tax provision calculations, invoicing, balance sheet and cash flow development, and month-end close.
Lead the monthly and annual close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Manage and coordinate annual external audits, acting as the primary contact for external auditors and tax advisors.
Drive improvements in accounting operations, reporting accuracy, and close efficiency.
Support budgeting and forecasting activities across multiple entities, and deliver meaningful financial insights to operational leaders.
Develop, refine, and distribute monthly financial reports and analysis.
Ensure multi-entity consolidation and compliance with US GAAP.
Lead cash flow planning, budgeting cycles, and long-term forecasting efforts.
Collaborate cross-functionally to implement effective financial tools, processes, and reporting systems.
Strengthen internal controls and support strategic initiatives led by the VP of FP&A.
Qualifications
10+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
CPA required.
Public accounting experience required.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; MBA preferred.
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and technical accounting.
Proven experience with audits, team leadership, and financial reporting (including multi-entity consolidation).
Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office tools.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present to senior leadership.
Highly detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated.
Able to work cross-functionally and prioritize in a dynamic environment.
This role is fully remote for candidates in the tri-state area. This role is offering up to $175,000 + bonus depending on experience.
