Director, Fundraising Business Development

Overview Be among the first 25 applicants. The successful candidate will be responsible for fundraising for Convergence Hall, an innovation campus in development at The Point of the Mountain, operated and managed by The Nucleus Institute. The campus will convene industry, academic, and government initiatives to fuel Utah's innovation economy. Fundraising efforts will support ongoing programs and initiatives of the Nucleus Institute. The candidate will help support external partnerships and business development for Nucleus Institute programs and initiatives. Depending on experience, there will be opportunities to develop the vision, operations, and systems of the Nucleus Fund, with a focus on commercialization efforts, including assisting in the development and investment of intellectual property and technology transfer operations for The Nucleus Fund. Responsibilities Manage and maintain relationships with high-net-worth individuals who can donate to The Nucleus Institute and its programs. Support external partnerships and business development for partnerships associated with The Nucleus Institute and Convergence Hall. Ensure transparent communication and maintain strong, trust-based relationships. Collaborate with professors, students, and industry partners to identify research projects with commercial potential. Utilize existing networks in business, venture capital, private equity, and space to expand the company’s network by attending industry events, conferences, and meetings to meet potential investors and partners for the Nucleus Fund and The Point Innovation team. Support the process of securing grants, as needed. All other job duties or projects as assigned by the Executive Director. In-state travel is necessary; infrequent out-of-state travel may be needed. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Equivalent work experience in a related field will be considered (1 year of experience is equivalent to 1 year of education). Minimum of 5 years of full-time relevant work experience supporting fundraising, business development, and commercialization. Fundraising skills with a proven track record of raising capital and relationship management. Experience initiating, managing, and closing deals. Entrepreneurial, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and build relationships with donors, industry leaders, professors, students, and venture capital firms. Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills for due diligence on investment opportunities. Strong organizational and systems thinking abilities to manage multiple projects. A passion for innovation and the ability to identify new opportunities for growth. Preferences Experience sourcing, analyzing, and investing in early-stage venture capital deals. Experience in commercialization, technology transfer, university administration or research, and venture capital efforts related to commercialization. Graduate education; PhD (one year of graduate education experience is equivalent to one year of work experience). Higher education experience.
