A healthcare company with backing from Private Equity, operating across multiple sites, is seeking to appoint a Vice President to strengthen their operational finance team.
Office Environment: The role will be remote with travel once a quarter. Preference for candidates who reside in CT/ET time zones.
The Vice President, Finance Operations is the leader of financial operations for groups of clinics. Responsible for financial leadership, planning and reporting, this leader will focus on operational effectiveness and efficiency in partnership with operations management through revenue analytics, organizational and cost structures, expense management and KPIs and other operational and financial metrics.
The incumbent will direct, supervise, and optimize comprehensive financial analysis for clinics, encompassing budgets, forecasts, and the analysis of financial performance. Serving as a communication leader, the individual will liaise with Senior Leadership and Operations Management, ensuring the dissemination of established operational financial indicators and escalating critical financial matters to achieve performance goals. The role involves active participation in financial due diligence for new business opportunities, acting as a key bridge between financial and operational leadership, providing insightful financial analysis, and recommendations to enhance operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead financial due diligence for new business opportunities, including reviewing RFPs, conducting bid modeling, and managing contract administration.
Serve as a vital link between financial and operational leadership by delivering insightful financial analyses and actionable recommendations to drive operational improvements.
Own the operating P&Ls, providing detailed profitability analyses across work locations and program lines.
Collaborate with finance and operations teams to define, monitor, and achieve sustainable performance metrics that promote operational excellence.
Offer strategic guidance on expenditures and revenue to ensure alignment with corporate economic goals, policies, and objectives.
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of internal financial policies, ensuring adherence through the establishment and enforcement of sound processes and procedures.
Partner with FP&A and Accounting teams to uphold stewardship of financial assets, supporting cost accounting, forecasting, and due diligence activities.
Oversee the upkeep and optimization of business intelligence, reporting, planning, and analytics systems related to hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), and clinics.
Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing the accuracy and efficiency of reporting and analytics through process improvements and automation.
Ensure financial cost models comply with reporting requirements for operating units, clients, and GAAP standards.
Identify critical cost drivers across business lines to optimize pricing strategies and strengthen the organization’s competitive position.
Utilize market intelligence to identify emerging segments and enhance the existing customer value proposition.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting (required).
MBA in Finance or Accounting and CPA certification (highly desirable).
Experience
Minimum of 8 years in financial management roles.
At least 3 years of experience in healthcare finance.
Experience in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments is strongly preferred.
Experience working with private equity is a plus.
Background in healthcare finance and multi-entity joint venture business organizations is required.
Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities
Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Proficiency in finance and accounting functions such as budgeting, credit, investments, and internal controls.
Familiarity with financial systems and data analysis tools.
Strong financial analysis skills, especially working with large datasets, and the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
Ability to interpret and apply accounting principles to potential transactions.
Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, discretion, and effective decision-making aligned with organizational goals.
Excellent relationship-building skills with management, medical staff, auditors, and other stakeholders.
Proven ability to facilitate goal achievement through cross-functional teams.
Competence in delegating responsibilities and managing multiple priorities efficiently.
Creative and collaborative approach to working with management and teams to meet objectives.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
