Location: Chicago office (flex hybrid)
Cboe is looking for a Director to join the Market Structure and Functionality team. This role involves working with internal and external groups to identify, design, and present new functionality, features, products and policies/procedures for electronic and open outcry trading, with focus on the growing retail community.
The candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment at Cboe's new Chicago headquarters and trading floor. They will interact with top professionals in the derivatives industry and collaborate with technologists, business leaders, project managers, regulators, customers, brokers, and Market‑Makers. The role involves identifying, evaluating and implementing innovations for trading functionality, products, processes and policies for electronic and floor‑based platforms, focusing on U.S. options and to a lesser extent, CFE futures. The candidate will report to the Head of Derivatives Market Structure and work closely with internal teams and external partners. While the role currently does not include managing others, this may change.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with technologists, business leaders, project managers, regulators, customers, brokers, and Market‑Makers to identify opportunities, with a focus on satisfying retail demand.
Design and execute new exchange functionality, products, policies and procedures for electronic and floor‑based trading platforms.
Understand volume trends, customer needs, trading behavior, impact of technology and fee changes.
Develop and manage the market structure pipeline to optimize competitive position, resource utilization and revenue.
Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory developments to anticipate opportunities and challenges.
Contribute to rigorous data analysis that drives impactful business decisions.
Integrate AI tools to streamline workflows and enhance solutions.
Qualifications
Undergraduate or master’s degree in business, finance, mathematics, computer science, or related field.
12 years of experience with 7 years of experience in U.S. derivatives markets or related areas.
In‑depth experience/management at a retail brokerage and thorough understanding of retail customer needs/activities a strong plus.
Proven track record of success and impact working at an exchange, brokerage, Market‑Making, technology or other type of firm within the industry, whether as practitioner or in product, project or team management role.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
Ability to produce and present high quality, effective slide decks.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Advantageous Skills
Programming languages: Python, R, C++, MATLAB.
Query languages: SQL.
Data visualization software: Tableau, Sigma.

Pay Ranges Our pay ranges are determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, role, experience, level, and location. The national new hire base pay range for this job in the United States is $153,000-$189,000. This range represents the minimum and maximum base pay the company expects to offer for new hires working in the position full time. If you live in one of the following areas or if you work in a Cboe office in the following areas, the range may be higher according to the geographic differentials listed below:
110%: Austin TX, Chicago IL, Denver CO, San Diego CA
115%: Los Angeles CA, Seattle WA
120%: Boston MA, Washington DC
125%: New York City NY
130%: San Francisco CA
Within the range, individual pay is determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, work location, job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
