Overview Position: Associate Director of Nursing Department: Nursing Reports to: Director of Operations Position Type: Full-Time Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000 Position: Manages a team of Registered Nurses and Medical Coordinators who oversee the medical care of individuals with intellectual and development disabilities. Works collaboratively with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, individuals in services, providers, and families to promote positive outcomes. Applies clinical knowledge to assess individuals and provide consultation and training. Assesses plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates services required to support the individuals health needs. Maintains a manageable caseload of individuals requiring delegation of medical procedures that are outside the scope of QMAP. Actively participates in strategic plan development and implementation. Duties & Responsibilities Develops and updates policies and procedures in accordance with current standards of practice using evidence-based guidelines and ensures regulatory compliance. Develops and approves methods of writing and updating health services treatment guidelines, care plans, protocols, policies and procedures for residential and nursing staff to follow when caring for individuals in services and ensure correct implementation, regulatory and best practice compliance. Ensures compliance with applicable rules and regulations, best practices related to assessments, nursing documentation, transcription of orders and other processes and systems assigned to nursing, including analysis from audits and management of electronic health records. Monitors medical support services to ensure individuals needs are met in a timely and efficient manner. Directs the supervision of implementation and documentation of the nursing process including assessment, nursing diagnosis, development and evaluation of care plans. Completes and documents evaluations and assessments to identify training and support needs to ensure continuity of care. Develops strategic plans that incorporate data analysis to improve processes and outcomes with a focus on health and safety. Provides medical consultation to interdisciplinary team members both internally and externally. Participates in interdepartmental collaboration and weekly meetings. Participates in agency regulatory/monitoring committees to ensure quality care and best-practice guidelines are met; attends external stakeholder trainings, meetings, and nursing conferences as applicable. On-call rotation approximately every 10 weeks with rotating holidays. Other Duties as assigned. Depending on the needs of the nursing department, may assist in day-to-day obligations such as delegation, QMAP and MRB training, day-to-day nursing functional duties, and other duties. Supervisory Responsibilities Manages agency-wide nursing professionals and medical coordinators through direct supervision. Performs supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and current nursing practice guidelines using evidence-based guidelines. Interviews, hires, and trains employees; plans, assigns and directs work; conducts performance appraisals; handles rewards and corrective actions; addresses complaints and resolves problems. Monitors performance measures to ensure high-quality care and fiscal responsibility; ensures department adheres to guidelines for best practice and regulatory requirements. Maintains high integrity; acts as a role model for direct reports and demonstrates strong leadership skills. Minimum Qualifications & License/Certification Bachelors degree in nursing from an accredited institution Current, valid licensure as a Registered Nurse from the Colorado Board of Nursing or any state participating in the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC) Two (2) years of professional healthcare experience Preferred Qualifications Experience as a Registered Nurse working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental health diagnoses Knowledge and experience with physical conditions and treatment protocols for IDD populations Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments Nurse case management experience Three years of supervisory experience Caring, supportive, accountable leader Willingness to work on an interdisciplinary team to improve services Conditions of Employment Must possess a valid unrestricted U.S. Drivers License Travel: This position requires travel to remote work sites and to use a personal vehicle; mileage reimbursement will be submitted. Must pass a Colorado Bureau of Investigation and a Federal Bureau of Investigations background check as a condition of employment Location : This position is primarily a work-from-home role with occasional travel to offices (Aurora, Loveland, Colorado Springs, Pueblo) and to individuals homes across the Front Range. Physical Demands Regularly required to reach with hands and arms, squat, climb stairs, talk or hear. Frequently required to drive. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
