GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The V.P., Managing Director has overall responsibility for the financial and operational performance of High Structural Erectors LLC (including P&L), estimating, 3rd party work acquisition, project execution within budgeted cost and schedule, workforce development, and equipment management. The primary objective for HSE is to deliver erection services to related-party affiliates, High Steel Structures LLC and High Concrete Group LLC and provide them with a competitive advantage in their markets. A secondary goal is to pursue, win and execute 3rd party opportunities to ensure market competitiveness and increase the benefit to the shareholders of High Industries, Inc. Due to the size of this operating group, the V.P., Managing Director is expected to work as a “player-coach”, directly performing certain duties in estimating, project management, and/or engineering to support the company objectives. This position serves on the HII Leadership Team and the High Leadership Council.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, AND/OR EDUCATION REQUIRED:
BS degree in engineering, construction management, or business administration field
Master’s degree in related field and/or shows dedication to continuously learn and develop professionally
DESIRED ATTRIBUTES AND COMPETENCIES:
Prioritizes safety in the execution of all work
Experience in the erection of structural precast for parking garages and bridge superstructures
Experience in estimating erection of bridge structures/ concrete parking garages including knowledge of applicable codes, preparation of erection procedures schematics and work schedules
Can demonstrate ability to work with design drawings and schematic diagrams to develop effective cost estimates
Experienced at managing construction projects to successful completion within budgeted cost and schedule
Capable of using commercially available scheduling programs
Can effectively communicate with and inspire confidence with HSE’s coworkers
Can build favorable relationships with related-party and 3rd party customers, both existing and new, to grow the company’s backlog through increasing sales
Can demonstrate ability to solve problems balancing cost, efficiency, and customer commitments
Experience in how job site conditions affect constructability and costs
Can demonstrate experience in performing project management functions with thoroughness and accuracy
Experience in contract management, participation in negotiations and managing within the terms of the contract is desired
DIMENSIONS:
Current total work program valued at $5,000,000 to $10,000,000 in annual revenue.
Current company staffing is between 25 to 55 coworkers.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to the President & COO of High Industries, Inc.
Direct reports include business development representative, estimators, project managers, administrative support, Manager of Field Operations, superintendents, and engineer.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provide strong and effective leadership to guide the team of HSE to meet established goals and performance objectives.
Communicate effectively to customers (affiliated entities and 3rd party) regarding project proposals and progress.
Drive a culture that effectively promotes safety in all aspects of work performed.
Exemplify the High Philosophy in execution of all duties.
Reach out to customers and potential customers to increase 3rd profitable party sales.
Review design and production drawings, plans, and specifications to ensure accuracy of project estimates.
Travel to and visit job sites as required for new work acquisition efforts, staff development, and project management.
Capable of independently developing accurate estimates for labor, material, and equipment necessary to execute structural erection projects.
Capable of managing execution of awarded projects to successful completion within established cost estimate and schedule, including accurate forecasting of cost variances throughout the construction timeline.
Contract administration, including contract negotiations, change order management, compliance with terms and conditions, and timely invoicing and cash collection.
Coach HSE staff in effective execution of estimate preparation and project management.
Assist in development of erection schemes, including estimating the number and size of cranes needed and locations for crane placements.
Oversee the development and management of annual budgets, ensuring financial targets are met while driving sustainable growth, profitability, and cost-efficiency across all erection projects.
Collaborate closely with executive leadership to develop and implement strategic plans that align with HSE long-term vision and operational goals.
Effectively prepare and present reports and plans as required to manage the business unit and communicate to corporate officers and Board of Directors.
Participate in and represent High Industries / HSE in national and regional industry associations, especially in committees related to erection of precast concrete and steel bridges (i.e. PCI, AISC, etc.)
