Global Tax Market Support Director

The Walmart Tax Department is looking for a Director, Global Tax Market Support to join our Global Tax Team.

What you'll do...

  • Collaborate on tax optimization with non-U.S. markets and their team members, contribute to achieving team goals, and assist in making well-informed decisions in complex situations.
  • Support the enhancement of our global governance framework, ensuring tax positions are thoroughly vetted, documented, and there is utmost integrity in our reporting.
  • Ensure our tax positions are properly included on tax returns and provisions, including effective documentation so positions are sustained upon audit.

  • Collaborate with other Tax Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in HQ Tax Team to ensure U.S. tax, compliance, and reporting obligations are met.
  • Monitor global tax developments to ensure we remain up to date on tax positions and structure.

About the team

This is a newly created role on the Global Tax Team. You will serve as the HQ partner and primary resource for the non-U.S. Tax teams to drive value through identification of issues and opportunities. You will partner with in-country Tax Leadership and local markets to offer technical support, assistance with identifying relevant global resources, driving best practices, while supporting tax governance across the markets. You will also coordinate with other Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in corporate to ensure U.S. tax, compliance, and reporting obligations are met.

In your enthusiasm to understand and learn our business operations and strategies, you'll aid and support the development of local strategies & execution plans, and then aid in the execution & delivery of results. This role will also ensure the appropriate global tax resources are being allocated, at the right time, to the right initiative by leveraging the Global Tax Centers of Excellence and ensure tax matters are being communicated effectively to Senior Leadership

  • Build, develop, and maintain a global support Tax team comprised of high-performing professionals.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Can work with new rules and ambiguity to develop analysis and guidance on novel issues
  • You can issue spot and provide guidance to executive leadership to facilitate decision-making
  • You have an undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance
  • You have an MBA or Master's in Accountancy or Tax or a JD with a Tax LL.M

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and 5 years' experience in accounting, income tax compliance, payroll tax, or related area OR 7 years' experience in accounting, income tax compliance, payroll tax, or related area. 3 years' supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Leading cross-functional projects, License to practice law in at least one state J.D., Masters: Accounting, Masters: Business, Masters: Economics, Masters: Finance, Masters: Law Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - Certificate
