TRIO - Program Director SALARY: $72,300.36 - $81,353.63 LOCATION: Lynnwood, Washington DESCRIPTION: Edmonds College (EC) seeks a professional to direct its TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Program. TRIO SSS is funded by aU.S. Department of Education (USDOE) grant. The TRIO Student Support Services programs at Edmonds College serves over 160 low-income, first-generation college students and/or students with documented disabilities each year. TRIO SSS provides holistic and comprehensive advising, tutoring, instructional support and student success activities. The mission of TRIO SSS and this position is to increase retention, graduation, transfer rates to 4 year institutions, and overall student success for TRIO participants. This position is a full-time, grant funded Director position and is responsible for program operations and accountability, including providing vision and leadership for the program, supervision and evaluation of staff, budget management, team building, development of grant reports and proposals, maintaining compliance with all federal guidelines, adhering to deadlines, modeling inclusive practices, recruiting eligible students, tracking and reporting student progress and performance, working collaboratively with the college community to identify and assist students in need of program services, and providing direct services to students. Commitment to the mission and values of EC, outreach, and student success. This is an exempt position reporting to the Vice President for Student Success, Belonging and Global Engagement. This position also provides supervision to full-time and part-time employees and manages budgets. The TRIO SSS program is funded by the U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) grant and is subject to reauthorization of federal resources. This grant program runs on a five-year grant cycle and is currently funded for the 2025-2030 academic years. The Director will be instrumental in supporting the writing of the next five-year grant for the 2030-2035 cycle. Please see Application Procedures and Required Documents, below. RESPONSIBILITIES: Overall administration of the TRIO SSS and Passport to Careers Program, a Washington State program that supports unaccompanied homeless youth and former foster youth who are most often eligible for the TRIO SSS program. Interpret, evaluate and implement the TRIO SSS program in accordance with meeting the TRIO SSS outcomes identified in the grant. Oversee the program budgets and authorize expenditures of state and federal funds in collaboration with the Vice President for Student Success, Belonging and Global Engagement. Collect, review, and compile required data, and submit the SSS Annual Report policies and procedures. Lead and implement the TRIO SSS grant regulations applicable to the program and ensure internal accountability, federal, state, and college policies and procedures. Supervise the selection/eligibility of project participants according to SSS guidelines and ensure the maintenance and confidentiality of accurate online and/or physical case files of each program participant. Develop the departmental action plan in accordance with the grant objectives and the college's commitment to access and student success for all. Maintain a student caseload and allocate appropriate caseload to staff. Direct the development of the appropriate support systems and collaborate with key departments (e.g., Services with Disabilities, Student Services, Enrollment Services, Financial Aid, Career and Resource Center, Center for Student Engagement and Learning, Tutoring, etc.) to ensure program support. Assess the strengths, weaknesses and needs of the program and students in order to improve services and retention strategies of participant progress. Participate in professional development activities appropriate to the functions of the position including state TRIO meetings, conferences, DOE sponsored training, EC sponsored professional development training, etc. Collaborate in college wide initiatives, plan and facilitate program sponsored events and activities. Exercise sound judgment, exhibit resilience under pressure, set priorities, achieve goals, assess complex situations, render fair judgments, communicate effectively, and maintain strong ethical and professional standards. Interview, select, train, supervise, manage and evaluate program staff. Other related duties as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor¿s degree in education, counseling, social work, psychology, student affairs, administration  OR  other closely related fields from an accredited institution. Minimum of three years experience in the design, management, and/or implementation of TRIO SSS or similar student or academic and student success support programs. Experience in leadership position in educational support, retention, college access, student affairs, academic enrichment programs and/or academic success programs. Proven leadership and experience in staff supervision, effective communication, management, and effective team building to accomplish program objectives, assess results and implement change. Experience conducting program evaluations and preparing reports (e.g. Annual Performance Report, Program Report, Grant Report, etc.). Knowledge and experience pertaining to 1st generation, low income students, and students with disabilities, including ADA and related legislation. PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is typically performed in an office setting, and onsite/in-person. The ability to sit at a desk/computer station, bend, stoop, walk and generally move around the office to consult with others, work within a busy environment and remain focused on tasks. Inventory management requires some lifting and moving of objects up to 30lbs. COMPENSATION: Salary is  $72,300.36 - $81,353.63 is based on the Edmonds College administrative/exempt salary schedule, plus a full state benefits package, which includes tuition waivers for college classes, medical, dental, retirement options and more. Vacation and leave package includes 12 sick days per year, 11 scheduled holidays, 1 personal holiday, and 24 vacation leave days per year. FLSA Status: The position is an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act requirements.
