Purpose Statement:
Northstar Behavioral Health is a team of professionals that specialize in medication-assisted treatment through a multi-faceted programming structure for those battling opioid addiction and/or stimulant addiction.
Monthly Key Result Areas:
Client satisfaction results of clients that graduated/completed are greater than 3.5 per site
Toxicology results of clients are less than 1 per site
Daily average number of clients in the program is greater than 14.5 per site
Number of grievances/maltreatment reports is less than 1 per site
Number of clients successfully graduated/completed from the program is greater than 50% per site
Number of clients that makes it 7 days or longer is greater than 50% per site
Number of staff turnover at a site (does not include promotion) is less than 1
Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Essential Functions)
Oversight to ensure the facility is adhering to DHS 245G standards and regulations. Participate in licensing reviews.
Reports directly to the Vice President of Operations. Direct report for all clinicians at the facility.
Implement Program and Group Rules.
Perform audits of all clinical files on a quarterly basis at minimum.
Implement new policies and procedures as needed.
Using sound decision-making skills, exhibiting good judgment and realistic understanding of issues.
Being diplomatic and exhibiting sensitivity toward other staff and client’s feelings, needs, values, and opinions.
Taking ownership when solving problems.
Having a willingness to seek assistance in making decisions.
Review and respond to grievances, incident reports, staff and client conflict according to NBH policies and procedures.
Review all Rule 25’s and/or Comprehensive Assessment and client referral documentation for the program. Communicate effectively with the Intake and Outreach Manager regarding intake approvals and denials.
Oversee clinical staff. Responsible for the hiring and oversight of the facility’s clinical staff.
Conduct training for new clinical staff as well as ongoing training for clinical staff.
Work with clinical staff to develop and modify the client handbook.
Provide supervision for the clinicians.
Lead clinical and multidisciplinary meetings on a weekly basis.
Complete disciplinary action protocol for all clinical staff.
Discuss specific client cases.
Assign caseloads to clinical staff.
Sign off on treatment or discharge plans as needed.
Review client charts to ensure compliance.
Required Skills and Experience: (Minimum requirements in terms of educational background, work experience, licenses/certifications or other knowledge skills and abilities)
Must know and understand the implications of 245G, chapter 245A, 626.557, and 626.5572, and Chapter 260E.
Must be designated by the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor Supervisor
Bachelor degree
Must have 5 or more years of work experience in direct service to individuals with substance use disorder and 3 years of work experience in the management or administration of direct service to individuals with substance use problems
CPR Certification or attain within 30 days
Must have 2 years of freedom from chemical use problems
Must pass a State of Minnesota Background Check
Must possess a current Minnesota Driver’s License with acceptable driving record
Ability to use Microsoft Office programs and other computer skills
Additional Skills and Experience: (Preferred or helpful)
Previous Treatment Director experience working in human services and/or healthcare environment;
Master degree in a human service field
Specialty training such as DBT-SUD, CBT, MI, etc.
