Treasury, Head of Balance Sheet Management (Managing Director)

Position summary and responsibilities for the Head of Balance Sheet Management (BSM) within State Street’s Treasury organization. The Head of BSM will report directly to the Global Head of Capital, ALM and Balance Sheet Management and is responsible for driving strategic initiatives across Global Treasury, including allocation of balance sheet capacity and limited capital/liquidity resources to support business activity, development of performance measurement methodologies (e.g., FTP, ROC), and coordination with Investment Services on deposit strategy.

What You Will Be Responsible For

The incumbent will work collaboratively with all Global Treasury functional areas and with State Street’s key business units to balance commercial growth with regulatory expectations and risk limits. Focus areas include:

  • Creating and driving an analytical framework for allocating State Street’s limited balance sheet, capital, and liquidity resources to business consumers, with a commercial eye for growth objectives
  • Owning and refining key performance management methodologies including Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) and Return on Capital (ROC)
  • Documenting and driving Global Treasury’s hedging strategy, in partnership with the Chief Investment Office and Interest Rate Risk teams
  • Engaging industry peers to understand best practices and industry trends
  • Partnering with Investment Services toward a well-articulated strategy for raising and maintaining client deposits, informed by regulatory developments and growth needs
  • Driving strategic initiatives within Global Treasury, including assessment of the firm’s optimal structural balance sheet position
  • Coordinating with Risk, Audit, Model Validation and other control teams to ensure effective controls
  • Maintaining robust linkages between business-as-usual capital and liquidity planning, international stress testing programs, ILST and CCAR

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in financial services, Global Treasury, and risk management/regulatory compliance
  • Strong content knowledge of capital, liquidity and interest rate risk, and key regulatory requirements in each discipline
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements/guidelines, capital and liquidity stress testing
  • Experience leading organization-wide cross-functional programs, managing competing priorities in a complex environment, and interacting with senior stakeholders to drive convergence
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and organizational skills with experience preparing materials for C-suite and board communications

Salary Range

$170,000 - $267,500 Annual

The range applies to the role in the primary location specified; if the candidate works outside that location, the range may differ.
