Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring that the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while focusing on patient and employee safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to develop individualized care plans.
• Identify teaching needs and goals through collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Provide timely information and documentation regarding patient status for team conferences.
• Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and ensure direct patient care using the nursing process.
• Initiate discharge planning and patient education from the day of admission.
• Ensure effective communication regarding changes in patient status among care providers.
• Train and supervise ancillary nursing personnel while promoting teamwork and a positive work environment.
• Maintain personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
• Assume charge responsibilities as required, ensuring effective use of time and staff.
• Engage in professional development through continuing education and self-study.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
• ACLS certification required prior to first shift (specific to certain facilities).
• A minimum of two years of bedside clinical experience is required.
