The City University of New York’s (CUNY) Office of Communications and Marketing (OCM) works in partnership with the University’s academic and administrative offices and its 25 colleges to promote CUNY’s unique mission and transformative role as an engine of social mobility. Together the teams manage all aspects of press and public relations, editorial content, art design, publishing, social media, advertisement, web development, TV, video and podcast production to tell the story of the premier urban public university in the United States.

Together the teams manage all aspects of press and public relations, editorial content, art design, publishing, social media, advertisement, web development, TV, video and podcast production to tell the story of the premier urban public university in the United States.
CUNY TV, the 40-year-old public educational television station of The City University of New York, operates broadcast Channel 25.3 in the tri-state area and cable Channel 75 throughout the five boroughs. The station airs 24/7 award-winning programing that is rarely found in traditional television. The station’s mission is to educate, inform and entertain our viewers and our university community.
The station reaches 7.3 million broadcast households in the New York metropolitan area from its studios at the CUNY Graduate Center. Programming includes 25 locally produced shows from CUNY TV staff and 100 hours a month of programs from CUNY’s 25 colleges and external partnerships. Program formats include magazine and studio shows, documentaries, student and faculty films, lectures, academic symposiums, artistic performances and more. The station is the recipient of 44 New York Emmy Awards as well as other prestigious industry honors including the Telly Awards and Communicator Awards. CUNY TV is broadcast in the city’s five boroughs over the air on Ch. 25.3; and through cable signals with Spectrum and Optimum on Ch. 75; RCN on Ch. 77; and Verizon FiOS on Ch. 30, as well as on YouTube and Apple Podcasts and the CUNY TV app. Reporting to the Senior Vice Chancellor of OCM, the Executive Director of CUNY TV is responsible for the overall operation and production of the television station.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To The Following
Oversee all aspects of management, maintenance, production, development and staff at CUNY TV.
Oversee production of CUNY TV’s 25 shows and on-air programming.
Oversee the selection of shows that are not produced by CUNY TV for airing on the station.
Enhance current partnerships and seek new collaborations to broaden both the on-air and online programming of CUNY TV.
Work with IT, broadcasting, engineering, post-production and archive staff to maintain optimal maintenance of all equipment necessary for keeping the station on the cutting edge of technology and on the air.
Manage the station’s relationship with stakeholders such as the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment and the CUNY Graduate Center.
Ensure the journalistic integrity of all CUNY TV programming.
Collaborate with the OCM budget office to oversee budget management and track the station's expenses.
Actively seek fundraising opportunities for CUNY TV.
Work closely with the CUNY TV Foundation board and on the management of the Himan Brown endowment.
Partner with OCM to produce the annual State of the University address and other CUNY specials throughout the year; act as liaison to CUNY colleges with on-campus TV and radio studios, which contribute about 100 hours of programming a month to CUNY TV.
Engage with outside organizations, as appropriate, to promote CUNY TV, like the NY Academy of Television Arts & Sciences or the National Association of Broadcasters.
Actively promote CUNY TV inside and outside of the CUNY Community.
Perform related duties as assigned.

Until further notice, this position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
Qualifications
Minimum:
This position is in CUNY's Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a bachelor's degree and eight years' related experience.
Preferred
Minimum of 10 years of experience, including in a managing role in public media (strongly preferred), a statewide television or cable network, a local, state or community agency, government relations or public relations setting.
Ability to form and sustain partnerships across a complex network of colleges, national entities, affinity groups/coalitions, etc.
Business acumen including personnel management, vendor management, fiscal management, including the ability to balance the delivery of programs against the realities of a budget, as well as problem solving, project management and creative resourcefulness.
Seasoned leader with strong organizational skills and experience managing a diverse team and overseeing multiple projects and conflicting priorities.
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a broad community of internal and external stakeholders and constituents.

Compensation And Benefits
The salary range is $166,000 - $185,000 , commensurate with credentials, education, and experience.
