DEPARTMENT: 40-42 Universal Teens Programming LOCATION: Palm Beach Gardens and Boynton Beach CLASSIFICATION: Regular full-time, exempt REPORTS TO: Senior Program Director JOB DESCRIPTION Purple Unicorn , on behalf of the Mandel Jewish Community Center (JCC) , is hiring a Teen Engagement Director , who will bring a long-term creative and innovative vision and roadmap to programming across both the Mandel Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Palm Beach Gardens and Boynton Beach Teen Department(s). The ideal leader will curate program development and leadership for all teen initiatives (grades 6–12), overseeing a team of two dynamic Coordinators (1 per location) and a diverse portfolio of initiatives including exciting field trips & in-house events, thematic camp days, and large-scale, meaningful experiences. This role is owning and driving the planning and execution of teen initiatives across our summer camp(s), ensuring meaningful and engaging experiences week over week. The Director also serves as the B’Nai B’rith Youth Organization (BBYO) City Director, supporting four active chapters, and cultivating key partnerships with local and national organizations, including those offering international teen travel. This leader will play a hands-on role in engaging teens, exposing leadership & development opportunities, ensuring programs reflect the mission and values of the JCC, and cheering and celebrating our teens as they evolve under our roof. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ● An out-of-the-box thinker who brings a vision and develops a programming roadmap across the current teen sectors - as well as a longer term strategy focused on future state and what creative possibilities may exist. ● Curate and oversee all teen programming (grades 6–12), including in-house programs, field trips, camp days, and special initiatives. ● Management and development accountability for two Teen Program Coordinators (one per location) ensuring appropriate training, performance management, transparent feedback and effective coaching is provided. ● Serve as the City Director for BBYO, overseeing four active chapters and cultivating meaningful relationships with teen leaders and chapter advisors. Work collaboratively with the BBYO Gold Coast Regional team on member recruitment and retention efforts. ● Oversight and management of organization budget (P&L) as well as all international teen travel initiatives. ● Cultivate and maintain collaborative partnerships with local and national organizations expanding opportunities for Jewish teen engagement, including international travel experiences, internships, mentorship programs, and volunteer opportunities (locally or other). ● Develop and lead large-scale teen events, including community service initiatives, overnight trips, and community-wide celebrations. ● Foster positive relationships with teens to encourage growth, participation, leadership development, and Jewish identity-building. ● Cross functional collaboration with internal departments and community partners to align teen initiatives with the JCC’s mission and values. ● Ensure compliance with safety, budgetary, and operational procedures across all teen programs and events. ● Oversee and manage departmental budgets (P&L), ensuring responsible financial planning, reporting, and resource allocation. ● Represent our teen population in community and organizational meetings, advocating for the needs and interests of Jewish teens. ● Introduce motivating educational opportunities exposing our teens to Jewish history and heritage balanced personal & professional development. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS ● Bachelor’s degree in related field required. ● 5+ years’ working within program development and working with teens 6 th -12 th grade. ● 2+ years overseeing or managing people. ● Experience managing and developing a team with empathy and results top of mind. Ability to drive change management, create culture, and identify training opportunities for top talent. ● Excellent communication skills across a diverse subset of individuals. ● Strong work ethic with an empathetic and familial approach, balanced with backbone and influencing skills, when needed. ● Passionate about Judaism and Jewish communal life and evangelizing that to our future Jewish leaders. ● Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence a data-driven, strategic agenda with our teen’s goals top of mind. ● Effectively manage multiple tasks and prioritize competing priorities. ● Nimble, with the ability to meet ever-changing needs and demands. ● Participation in professional development activities to continue enhancing skills and remain relevant across industry changes. ● Work independently across team owned initiatives and projects to include budget, timeline, critical metrics, and risk/risk mitigation updates provided as needed for transparency, support, and success. ● Ensure the appropriate presence across you/team required to perform all assigned responsibilities with a focus on punctuality, deadlines, and commitment. ● Ability to work collaboratively with agency staff contributing to a supportive team atmosphere and courteous, trusted partnerships with members, vendors, and outside agencies. ● Maintain adherence to all company policies and procedures, including agency safety requirements. ● Frequent local travel. Must have reliable transportation and a valid Florida Driver License. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: ● Ability to exert moderate physical efforts which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weights (up to 50lbs), bending, stooping,stretching, squatting and sitting; ● Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. ● Travel (domestic or international) up to 4x/year ● Flexibility to work various schedules as needed, to include events that may take place on evenings or weekends.
