Overview TDOC DRC Clinical Director - 09232025-71512. Role at State of Tennessee. Under general supervision, directs clinical activities/services of average difficulty at the assigned region in the Department of Correction, Community Rehabilitation Services Division. Responsibilities Monitor processes, materials, or surroundings to detect mental health or substance use issues and assess client progress toward goals and treatment compliance. Utilize clinical strategies (e.g., dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing) with clients to reduce resistance and increase motivation to change behaviors. Provide psychotherapy in individual and group/family sessions; complete clinical assessments for rehabilitation services; and oversee aftercare services such as case management and psychiatric services. Coordinate referrals to public/private agencies and community resources; collaborate with treatment teams; and maintain documentation for records and treatment plans. Interpret client status and assessment information to staff; may testify in court regarding client plan compliance; communicate rules, policies, and treatment plans to clients and families. Develop and implement plans of care, monitor client progress, and participate in evaluations of staff performance as needed. Plan, prioritize, and coordinate work for self and assigned staff; participate in staffing decisions and budget/resource planning as appropriate. Develop staff through mentoring, training, performance feedback, and team-building activities; lead discussions on operations to improve efficiency and quality of services. Maintain knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing clinical practice and rehabilitation services; operate relevant databases and office software.
Qualifications Education and Experience: Possession of at least a master’s degree in a social science field from an accredited college or university and experience equivalent to one year of full-time responsible professional clinical work. Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be currently licensed by the State of Tennessee as a mental health professional and maintain licensure during employment. Eligible clinical licensure includes LPC with MHP designation, LCSW, LSPE, or Licensed Psychologist. Examination Method: Education and Experience, 100%, for Preferred Service positions.
