Your Role Gensler is organized around a highly collaborative studio leadership model, emphasizing values, culture, and working style. As a Gensler Studio Director , you are a leader in client relations, business development, people management, and project oversight. You support the growth of Gensler’s practice areas, manage a diverse portfolio of projects, and leverage business acumen to attract high-profile clients and projects. This role suits a leader passionate about the business of design and excited to manage talented creatives.
What You Will Do Leadership
Enable your team to reach their potential and foster a positive environment
Manage your team with an open-door policy
Build staff capabilities through training in design, technical skills, communication, and project management
Create a creative, innovative, and nurturing studio environment with effective coaching and mentoring
Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
Maintain dignity, respect, and professionalism
Client Development/Market Positioning
Consistently market and develop new business
Lead or participate in project pursuits, proposals, presentations, and interviews
Build and grow relationships with clients to strengthen the Phoenix Workplace portfolio
Participate in external networking and events to promote Gensler’s expertise and support business development goals
Project Leadership
Lead multiple projects, guiding design and innovation, and oversee strategic direction and delivery
Support projects led by others in the studio
Leverage expertise in Hospitality / Lifestyle sectors in our approach
Talent and Development
Ensure an outstanding team experience through close staff collaboration
Oversee hiring, performance, learning, and professional development processes
Mentor and develop talent through project work and coaching
Studio Development and Operations
Co-Lead the Studio and participate in administrative and financial responsibilities
Contribute to the strategic growth of the Studio
Work with leadership on strategic planning
Monitor budgets, profitability, billing, and expenses
Manage studio operations and represent studio interests
Your Qualifications
Experience with architecture, master planning, or interiors
Proven leadership and business development skills
Registered architect or certified interior designer
At least 15 years of experience in architecture and design
Experience managing a studio’s operations and staff development
Strong client relationships preferred
Drive and collaborative spirit to grow a dynamic studio
Willingness to travel as needed
Excellent portfolio and references
