The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) is seeking an accomplished Sr. Director of Supply Chain Management to lead strategic initiatives that impact the reliability, efficiency, and future direction of Metro's operations. This senior leader will partner with executive leadership and key stakeholders to align organizational goals, drive innovation, and oversee critical supply chain planning and analytics. The role directs and develops a high-performing team, ensuring staff growth, role optimization, and continuous improvement across all levels of the organization. The Sr. Director will also lead vendor partnerships, resolve complex operational challenges, deliver impactful business updates, and oversee materials and supplies financials to achieve performance and fiscal goals. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of Metro's supply chain organization and make a meaningful impact on the region's transit system. This role will operate out of Maryland, DC and Virginia.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Finance, Supply Chain, or Engineering
- Experience
A minimum of twelve (12) years experience in Operations, Vendor Management, Maintenance Planning, Distribution Operations, Finance or Supply Chain Planning; experience must include a minimum 8 years experience in a management capacity within a maintenance/repair or transportation management operation - Excellent understanding of supply chain operation processes including demand planning in Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO), sales, operations planning and supply planning

Job Summary
The Senior Director, Supply Chain Management leads Metro's Supply Chain organization, including management of Bus and Rail Materials/Supplies, Facilities Materials and Warehousing, and Supply Chain Planning and Analytics. The role ensures the transformation and ongoing management of materials and supplies, engages with executive leaders on performance reviews, and resolves operational challenges. The incumbent directs the Supply Chain Planning and Analytics team in delivering reliable forecasts, business updates to senior leadership, and reports on supply chain performance and budgeting.
Essential Functions
- Identifies and translates strategic objectives into executable supply chain models, including standardized processes, metrics, and automation frameworks applicable to service delivery.
- Champions a customer-centric approach by establishing service standards, monitoring performance metrics, and driving continuous improvement to exceed operational service goals.
- Designs and leads WMATA's Supply Chain Management operation to improve asset availability, reduce material costs, and optimize planning and purchasing practices.
- Partners with Operations leadership and stakeholders to support BUS/RAIL parts and maintenance/repair operations; chairs the cross-functional Supply Chain Management Governance Committee.
- Identifies inefficiencies and leads lean initiatives to improve cost, speed, and quality across supply chain functions.
- Develops proactive mitigation strategies for disruptions, compliance issues, and geopolitical risks.
- Leads enhancements to parts planning, procurement practices, and workforce structuring; drives expenditures and budget alignment for the supply chain operation.
- Drives adoption of supply chain technology platforms and digital tools; prepares and delivers supply chain reporting for executive leadership, budget, and management teams.
- Engages with executive leadership on supply chain matters, achieves alignment, and drives future initiatives; facilitates committee meetings and gains consensus on key operational decisions.
- Directs and develops supply chain staff; ensures roles are covered, provides development plans, and conducts internal reviews.
- Oversees materials and supplies financials and metrics; ensures financial goals are set and managed.
- Ensures alignment of supply chain initiatives with broader organizational priorities and regulatory standards; maintains understanding of applicable regulations.
Other Functions
Maintains and promotes safety awareness and accountability; supports a positive safety culture and encourages reporting of safety concerns per Agency Safety Plan and related requirements.
