About the Role:

As Sr. Director of Sales, Retail & Club, you will lead the development and execution of strategic initiatives to accelerate top-line growth across J Skinner Baking’s expansive portfolio—including danishes, muffins, cinnamon rolls, brownies, and bars.

You’ll oversee our retail and club sales team, driving market strategy both internally and externally to deliver profitable growth. This role owns key customer relationships, leads contract negotiations, and identifies margin-enhancing opportunities that support long-term business success.

Successful candidates will bring deep retail and club channel expertise, strong customer relationships, and a sharp understanding of category dynamics. You’ll collaborate cross-functionally with Procurement, Commercial Planning, Operations, R&D/Quality, and Category Insights to build scalable, customer-centric solutions.

This role reports to the Chief Commercial Officer.

This is a full-time role (Remote) with company benefits as candidates must reside in Bentonville, AR, region. Travel is up to 40%.

What You’ll Do – Retail & Club Sales Leadership

As a senior leader at J Skinner Baking, you’ll drive growth across branded and private label bakery offerings in retail and club channels. This role blends strategic planning, team leadership, customer development, and cross-functional execution to deliver top-line results and long-term market share.

Commercial Strategy & Business Planning

  • Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for branded and private label products across retail and club channels
  • Build annual sales plans aligned with company strategy and growth objectives
  • Establish quarterly and annual revenue targets; monitor performance metrics to ensure team effectiveness
  • Analyze market trends and customer needs to identify new business and product development opportunities
  • Recommend product positioning, packaging, and pricing strategies to expand market share

Customer & Partner Development

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, brokers, and distribution partners
  • Lead joint business planning efforts with top accounts to drive mutual growth
  • Communicate product feedback from customers to Quality and Product Development teams
  • Actively manage broker relationships to grow sales, share, and profitability

Team Leadership & Performance Management

  • Lead and manage the retail & club sales team, including hiring, training, goal setting, and performance reviews
  • Foster a culture of data-driven selling and category insight as a daily business practice
  • Provide monthly forecasting direction and set performance goals aligned with demand planning

Data-Driven Execution & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Leverage syndicated and customer-specific data to build compelling selling stories
  • Utilize business intelligence tools to inform strategic planning and execution
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Customer Service, Finance, NPD, Demand Planning, and Operations to optimize sales flow and ensure flawless execution

About You:

  • 10+ years consumer packaged goods experience required in sales and category insights.
  • Experience calling on mass, retail & club customers is a requirement.
  • Experience developing, planning and leading strategic internal and external initiatives.
  • Experience in a leadership role managing a team of 3+ people.
  • Someone who gets things done, is innovative, and works with a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent data analytical and organizational skills, ability to create insightful presentations and business cases to drive results.
  • Ability to break down ambiguous problems into concrete, manageable components and think through optimal solutions.
  • Self-starter mentality with a high degree of follow-through; can own and take strategic initiatives to completion.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Someone who has high standards, takes ownership, and is invested in the outcome.
  • Someone who proactively helps others stays positive and has a good sense of humor.
