Summary

The Senior Director, Project Management is a strategic leader responsible for driving the successful execution of marketing initiatives across channels, teams, and geographies. This role oversees a team of project managers, ensuring operational excellence, on-time delivery, and alignment with business objectives. The ideal candidate is a proven leader with deep experience in marketing operations, cross-functional collaboration, and enterprise-level project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead large-scale campaigns, product launches, and other initiatives for commerce and brand marketing programs.
  • Develop complex integrated project plans with clearly defined scopes, timelines, budgets, and success metrics.
  • Drive collaboration across Marketing, Strategy, Retail Excellence, Strategy, Media, Creative, and external agency partners.
  • Implement and evolve project management frameworks, tools, and processes to increase efficiency and visibility.
  • Manage resource planning, project prioritization, and capacity balancing across internal and external teams.
  • Anticipate risks, remove roadblocks, and resolve conflicts to keep programs on track.
  • Monitor performance metrics and develop financial reports on project health, ROI, and KPIs.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and results-driven execution within the team.
  • Champion agile, waterfall, or hybrid methodologies based on project needs and organizational maturity.
  • Act as a key liaison between marketing leadership and other departments including Financial Operations, Department Operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field
  • 15+ years of experience in marketing project management (agency experience preferred), with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
  • Proven experience managing complex, cross-functional marketing programs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in scope development, scope management and financial management
  • Strong understanding of commerce marketing, brand marketing, digital marketing, brand strategy, creative development, and media planning.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Asana, Workfront, Smartsheet, Jira).
  • PMP, Agile, or Six Sigma certification is a plus.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage operations for a portfolio of clients. Ensure financial health of business through development, review, and management of contribution margin targets and actualized margin. Ensure team is providing information and escalating financial risk appropriately. Guide team in reconciliations and pull key levers necessary to positively influence successful financial outcomes.
  • Partner with Dept. Ops to ensure accounts are staffed with the skill-sets needed to deliver on the work, while balancing the financial realities of the business.
  • Ensure staffing gaps are communicated to VP and/or SVP. Ensure Project Management leadership is in lock step around needs of the business.
  • Strive to be a role model for the team, demonstrating leadership through exemplary behaviors. Develop junior talent to become high-value contributors to the team. Foster an inclusive environment and look to build on people's unique skills.
  • Volunteer in corporate initiatives, new business pitches, etc., when time and opportunity allow. Help drive the Project Management capability and agency initiatives forward to help us stay relevant.
  • Design or refine operational workflows to improve efficiency and/or quality. Partner with senior clients to lead project initiatives, rollout new ways of working, escalate themes on projects, risk, etc.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with senior clients. Foster a collaborative relationship with clients and is considered an integral part of their team. Understand and articulate the client's most critical issues and challenges. Be forward looking—actively works with the senior client to help deliver on their agenda.
  • Help drive the Project Management capability and agency initiatives forward to stay relevant.
  • Share key policies and procedures from MSA with team to ensure compliance (legal should provide and review MSA overview materials).

Supervisory Responsibilities

Direct Reports: Hires, retains, trains, coaches, guides, directs, and develops direct reports using company-wide processes, tools and resources

Indirect Reports: May delegate work of others and provide guidance, direction and mentoring to indirect reports

Minimum Qualifications

Education Level: Required: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

Field of Study/Area of Experience: Marketing / Communications

10+ years of Project Management experience

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Working knowledge of enterprise tools (Asana, Workfront, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Teams)

Previous advertising/marketing agency or client-side experience preferred

Digital and/or shopper project management preferred

Strong leadership skills & previous direct report/team management required

Environmental & Physical Requirements: Office / sedentary; ability to sit for extended periods, hear telephone, enter data, and lift up to 10lbs
