Lead Talent Specialist at University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School General Summary Of Position Under the general direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor of Facilities Management, the Sr. Director of Strategic & Space Planning oversees strategic planning and development of UMass Chan's campus, including campus planning, master planning, land use, site planning, mobility planning, and project-specific planning and programming. This role ensures campus development aligns with the institution's mission and long-term growth objectives. The Sr. Director manages and develops the staff of the Space Planning Department and is responsible for managing data related to all UMass Chan Medical School space assets across all campus locations. The role serves as the key administrative contact regarding space management issues and presents space plans to senior leadership as needed. Major Responsibilities Lead development and implementation of strategic and campus master plans with senior leadership and stakeholders. Provide strategic direction for campus planning initiatives aligning with institutional goals. Use land use analyses to optimize space allocation, considering zoning, environmental, and community factors. Manage the space database, ensuring accuracy of departmental space data across all locations. Participate in space utilization committees and strategic planning for facilities needs. Meet with staff and leadership to assess spatial needs and develop efficient planning scenarios. Maintain space inventory data to support reporting and analysis, including federal and institutional requirements. Prepare reports on space allocations, utilization, and planning options for senior management. Oversee annual space audits and supervise the Space Planning team. Develop policies and metrics for space utilization and office hoteling. Conduct studies and compile data for campus planning and long-term projects. Review space requests and ensure compliance with standards. Coordinate documentation of space changes and ensure as-builts are accurate. Implement departmental policies and perform other related duties. Required Qualifications Masters degree in Engineering, Architecture, Building Science, or equivalent experience. At least 10 years of institutional planning experience. Progressive management experience, including supervising staff and working with senior executives. Experience in healthcare, medical, or academic environments preferred. Understanding of space management and project planning technical aspects. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Excellent communication skills. Knowledge of research and teaching space requirements. Ability to travel to off-site locations.
