A Day in the Life
The Senior Director of Global Strategy for Acute Care and Monitoring will be a visionary, cross-functional leader responsible for shaping and executing the long-term strategic direction of the business. This individual will be tasked with generating deep business insights, drawing on models from diverse industries that have undergone successful software driven transformations, and applying those learnings to revolutionize the patient monitoring space. A key part of this role will be balancing the needs of today, rooted in a traditional capital and disposable based business model with the vision of tomorrow, where connected, software-enabled solutions redefine how care is delivered, and value is created.
This leader will work collaboratively across operating units and core functions (including Marketing, Finance, Sales, R&D, and Legal/Compliance) to drive portfolio strategy, guide investment decisions, and ensure execution of strategic initiatives that position the business for sustainable growth.
Given the transformative nature of this work, the position will have high visibility with senior leadership, operating unit executives, and global stakeholders across the organization. The position reports to the VP of Global Marketing and Strategy and will be a member of the Global Marketing Leadership team.

Strategic Planning Leader
Accelerate growth: Map out the future steps to accelerate the growth trajectory of the business based on a deep understanding of current business and strategic objectives. Identify, analyze, & present new businesses opportunities in line with the OU’s long-range strategy
Transition Business model: Guiding the business through the transformation of traditional monitoring models into connected, software-enabled solutions that better meet the needs of patients, providers, and health systems
Break down Silos: Collaborate with Marketing Franchise Leaders, Innovation Delivery and R&D to ensure cross portfolio strategic priorities are reflected in product strategy
Play Big across Medtronic: Assess/ Identify and Champion the implementation of Patient Monitoring across therapy segments in conjunction with other OUs, recommend programs/projects and conceptualize/develop new approaches for integrating patent monitoring to alert for adverse advents and improve outcomes tailored for specific disease states
Collaborate with technical product management: Work with the R&D teams to define product requirements and ensure alignment with market needs.
Portfolio Management Owner
Develop and champion process for portfolio management
Prioritize program initiatives and recommend resource allocation based on strategic/financial value and capacity
Present opportunities and recommendations to senior management as a basis for strategic decision-making (i.e., financial metrics, competitive threats, pricing implications, research insights, and strategic business planning)
Facilitate buy vs. build vs. partner decisions to expand the portfolio, enter white space opportunities, and leverage technologies across Medtronic
Cross-Functional Team Participation & Leadership
Lead cross-functional teams to optimize ACM’s strategy and executional plans around the business, market, and customer needs
Create strong relationships with a broad set of stakeholders (e.g., senior leadership team, marketing, R&D, finance, clinical, regulatory, operations, health policy, and global leaders)
Generate business plans, strategic requirements, and supporting financial models to align all functional groups behind a common vision and strategic imperative
Work with global partners to understand unique customer/business needs, and ensure the strategy is aligned with the competitive/market opportunities based on quantitative and qualitative analyses
Voice of Customer – Internal and External Stakeholders
Develop comprehensive plans for patient access acceleration, including segmentation and opportunity assessment, identification of key barriers and tactics to resolve.
Cultivate relationships and obtain ongoing feedback from customers to support the strategic analysis, market opportunities, and business recommendations
Apply creativity and ingenuity to find unique solutions to complex problems
Energetic, self-starter who thrives in ambiguous situations and drives to results

Education Required
Bachelor’s degree (with 15+ years of work experience)
or
Graduate Degree (with 13+ years of work experience)
Years of Experience
10+ years of experience working in finance/strategy/marketing (i.e., competitive analysis, market models, strategic plans and financial models)
The ideal candidate will bring an external lens, drawing on insights from industries such as fintech, telecom, industrial automation, and digital health where software platforms have redefined customer engagement and operational models. This role will also play a key part in supporting business development initiatives.
Knowledge of medical device industry practices, techniques, and standards
Previous work experience from management consulting firm
Works and champions ideas at the regional and global level
Strategic thinking and influence – Play a leadership role in strategic thinking and formulate impactful strategies that will drive market penetration and share. This position relies on a high degree of influence management skills with product marketing, global marketing organization, managed markets, field sales management, and other global constituents
Analytical prowess/ problem-solving ability – Ability to analyze data from multiple sources, integrate this information and formulate impactful strategic and tactical plans to drive the business
Adaptive/responsive – Adapt and respond quickly to changing and new information. Takes the initiative with a can-do attitude, driving results in complicated environments, and effectively operating and delivering with minimal direction
Communication skills – Demonstrate an ability to disseminate information in a concise and clear way. Proven ability to work effectively across a global matrix organization, including scoping and leading projects with cross-business unit teams

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$219,200.00 - $328,800.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
This position is eligible for an annual long-term incentive plan.
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
