We are seeking a Director of Engineering to lead the development of mission-critical communication infrastructure that serves as the backbone for all client/agent interactions in our Clinical AI platform. You'll build and scale the messaging systems, streaming protocols, and realtime communication machinery that enables multi-modal healthcare experiences for providers and patients worldwide.
In this role, you'll drive the engineering vision for enterprise-grade distributed systems that handle diverse traffic patterns including multimedia, voice, and data streams. You'll lead teams building cloud-native infrastructure using Kubernetes, modern streaming protocols, and distributed messaging systems that must operate with healthcare-grade reliability and security.
This is a foundational leadership opportunity within our Clinical AI organization, where you'll collaborate with hundreds of developers across Oracle Health while maintaining the agility and innovation speed of a true startup. You'll be instrumental in our mission to transform healthcare delivery and patient experiences across the US and globally.
Responsibilities
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
12+ years of software engineering experience with deep expertise in backend systems
8+ years of experience leading high-performing engineering teams in complex, distributed environments
Extensive hands-on experience building enterprise-grade realtime communication systems
Deep technical expertise in distributed messaging systems, streaming protocols, and cloud-native architectures
Strong experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cloud infrastructure at scale
Proven track record delivering mission-critical systems with strict reliability and performance requirements
Strong engineering discipline, system design skills, and architectural thinking
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across large, distributed teams
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Distributed Systems, or related technical field
Experience with audio/video streaming protocols and multimedia communication systems
Background in healthcare technology, regulated environments, or mission-critical applications
Hands-on experience with modern messaging platforms, event streaming, and realtime data processing
Track record of scaling engineering teams and systems in high-growth, fast-paced environments
Experience working in startup-like environments within larger enterprises
Passion for healthcare innovation and improving patient outcomes through technology
Responsibilities
Lead and scale engineering teams responsible for the core communication infrastructure supporting Clinical AI agents
Own the architectural vision and technical strategy for enterprise-grade messaging, streaming, and realtime communication systems
Design and deliver distributed systems that handle diverse traffic patterns including multimedia, voice, and data streams
Drive the development of cloud-native infrastructure using Kubernetes, modern streaming protocols, and distributed messaging platforms
Collaborate with product teams to deliver multi-modal healthcare applications for providers and patients
Establish engineering excellence through rigorous development practices, system monitoring, and operational discipline
Partner with hundreds of developers across Oracle Health to ensure seamless integration and platform consistency
Build and maintain systems that meet healthcare industry standards for security, compliance, and reliability
Foster a startup-like culture of rapid innovation while leveraging enterprise-scale resources and infrastructure
Present technical strategy, progress, and vision to executive stakeholders and cross-functional leadership teams
Mentor and develop engineering talent while building high-performing, autonomous teams focused on mission-critical outcomes

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $122,500 to $291,800 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle's differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
