We are seeking a visionary and hands-on Principal Software Engineer to lead the technical evolution of development at Coinbase. You will be instrumental as an architect and technical leader in driving our AI-driven engineering initiatives. Your responsibilities will include: Architect an AI-First Ecosystem: Integrate AI agents deeply into our development processes, automating test generation, refactoring legacy code, proactively identifying bugs, and optimizing performance before code reaches production. Pioneer LLM Integration: Bring our vision to life regarding how LLMs and agents will redefine the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Develop and implement the next generation of autonomous engineering tools. Bridge the Gap Between AI and Fundamentals: Recognizing that advanced AI systems need a solid, rigorously tested architecture, you will work closely with infrastructure teams to ensure AI tools scale efficiently and securely. Treat Platform as a Product: Define the technical strategy to build and enhance a leading Internal Developer Platform that serves our engineers as customers, removing barriers and allowing them to solve the most challenging problems in crypto. Define the AI-Native Engineering Standard: As AI takes on more implementation tasks, you will establish new workflows, technical standards, and best practices for engineering at Coinbase. Principal-Level Technical Authority: A comprehensive understanding of engineering fundamentals like CI/CD, public cloud (AWS/GCP), container orchestration, and modern testing methodologies. You have a proven history of influencing cross-organizational architectural changes that enhance productivity for numerous engineers.
