The successful candidate will combine funeral service proficiency with strong management skills to uphold the prestigious standards for which this location is recognized. This represents a full-time, on-location opportunity. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Funeral Operations & Client Relations: Coordinate all service elements including removals, transfers, preparation logistics, and ceremonial details Conduct arrangement meetings with families, negotiate service contracts, and showcase available options, products, and benefits including military honors Lead visitations, funeral ceremonies, and graveside services as Master of Ceremonies Organize and execute funeral and memorial services following Jewish traditions and customs with dignity and compassion Manage pre-arrangement services and deliver ongoing family support and aftercare Deliver outstanding, customized service that surpasses family expectations Administrative Leadership: Oversee daily operations encompassing scheduling coordination, personnel management, and resource deployment for optimal service delivery Maintain compliance with all professional, local, state, and federal regulatory requirements Oversee facility upkeep, grounds maintenance, vehicle fleet, and equipment functionality to ensure professional standards and operational readiness Prepare and process all necessary paperwork, agreements, legal documentation, and regulatory filings with precision Supervise casket inventory, funeral merchandise, and supply management Develop and execute operational enhancements to improve service efficiency and quality Business Development & Financial Oversight: Contribute to strategic planning and attainment of revenue objectives Oversee operational budgets, authorize expenses, and implement effective cost management Champion initiatives to drive sustainable business growth and case volume expansion Team Management & Staff Leadership: Direct and mentor funeral home personnel to achieve unified, superior service standards Establish clear performance expectations and uphold excellence benchmarks Cultivate team ownership mindset and professional pride Deliver ongoing supervision, mentorship, and professional development support Community Relations: Cultivate and sustain meaningful partnerships within Jewish community networks and local faith-based organizations Engage actively in community, civic, and religious groups to enhance the funeral home's community presence Serve as a professional ambassador demonstrating cultural competence and sensitivity Regulatory Compliance & Workplace Safety: Maintain strict adherence to licensing standards, organizational protocols, and industry regulations Champion and sustain safe, healthy workplace practices and environments Requirements Mandatory Requirements Professional Credentials & Education: Valid driver's license Current Ohio Funeral Director license (must satisfy all Ohio state board licensing criteria) High school graduation or equivalent certification required Technical certification in Funeral Services or Mortuary Science highly preferred Bachelor's degree in Mortuary Science or applicable field as mandated by state regulations preferred
Professional Background: Minimum 5+ years progressive funeral service industry experience with advancing responsibilities Minimum 2+ years staff leadership experience including expectation setting and team coordination Evidence of career advancement and increased responsibility over time Financial management experience including P&L accountability Demonstrated excellence in family service delivery Daily funeral home operations management experience Budget development and cost control expertise
Preferred Credentials Deep expertise in Jewish funeral traditions and customs strongly preferred - comprehensive understanding of Jewish burial rituals, religious obligations, ceremonial requirements, and cultural considerations Current Licensed Embalmer credentials (combined Funeral Director/Embalmer licensing) Previous experience in funeral home team leadership and personnel management Proficiency with HMIS, InfoPort, and CarePoint software systems Background in premium or high-capacity funeral service locations Demonstrated history in community outreach and business development
