This position represents a leader in understanding, creating, and developing community and identity formation through integrative engagement at Georgetown University. The role collaborates with faculty, staff, and students who lead parallel efforts to advance identity formation and belonging, and leads Division of Student Affairs initiatives to ensure policies, procedures, programs, services, and teams reflect contemporary understanding of intersectional experience and best practices in outreach and programming.
Work Interactions The Senior Director reports to the Associate Vice President in the Division of Student Affairs. The Senior Director supervises the Directors of the Disability Cultural Center, the LGBTQ Center, and the Women’s Center, the Program Coordinator, and future staff dedicated to managing the office suite and shared facility resources. The role interacts with faculty, administrators, staff, alumni, and students to create community among Georgetown students. Key responsibilities include:
Connecting across the lifecycle of co-curricular initiatives, from Pre-Orientation Programs to Commencement Celebrations and alumni engagement
Operationalizing strategic priorities related to sense of belonging and identity formation, as identified in the Division of Student Affairs Strategic Plan (2025-2028)
Leading the development and coordination of restorative practices, including staff and student trainings, response plans, community-building efforts, and alternative resolutions to address harms
Providing leadership, vision, and direction to the Cultural Center Directors and program staff
Chairing, convening, and coordinating committees and projects
Supervising Directors in developing, implementing, and executing programs and services that build community and a sense of belonging
Assessing programs and services through quantitative and qualitative means, and leading assessment efforts addressing intersectional identity formation
Managing resources and facilities, including space resources in the terrace level of New South
Recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, evaluating, and supporting professional development of Center Directors and staff
Work Mode This position is designated as In-Person. The role requires primary staff coverage at the Hilltop Campus and periodic coverage at the Capitol Campus. Work mode designations are reviewed to meet evolving university needs.
Requirements and Qualifications Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, Counseling, or related field; Terminal Degree preferred
8 years of work experience in a cultural center or department fostering belonging and identity for students, particularly historically underrepresented or excluded from higher education
Minimum 3 years of management experience leading teams with demonstrated supervision, mentoring, and staff development
Ability to solve complex problems by building shared solutions among divergent stakeholder interests
Familiarity with post-secondary student formation, development, and growth, especially regarding intersectional identity development
Familiarity with issues relevant to students from historically marginalized communities
Familiarity with decentralized higher education organizational contexts
Experience advising, supervising, mentoring, supporting, and educating students
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders on multiple projects
Strong organizational skills and time management
Ability to lead, manage, and support staff at all career levels
Vision, self-motivation, and enthusiasm for developing a dynamic staff
Commitment to the mission and context of Jesuit and Catholic higher education, particularly regarding historically marginalized or underrepresented student experiences
Preferred Qualifications Advanced or terminal degree in a discipline related to student identity development, human development, or higher education
Experience in a Jesuit and Catholic higher education setting
Pay Range The projected salary range for this position is $66,783.00 - $126,720.23. Compensation is determined by factors including qualifications, experience, education, skills, certifications, university needs, and external factors.
