If you've mastered the art of regulatory navigation while others get lost in paperwork, we need your strategic mind. Not just to check boxes, but to clear runways for launch.
Maximise your chances of a successful application to this job by ensuring your CV and skills are a good match.
2 Hour Learning is executing an aggressive expansion: 25-30 new campuses in the next six months. This isn't aspirational—it's funded, proven, and in motion. We need a regulatory strategist who transforms compliance from a bottleneck into a competitive advantage.
As Senior Director of Regulatory Operations, you'll own the complete regulatory pathway that determines when our doors open. From state authorizations to local permitting, you'll be the driving force that converts regulatory requirements into executable timelines and cleared pathways.
About 2 Hour Learning
2 Hour Learning powers Alpha Schools, NextGen Academy, GT School, Texas Sports Academy, and Unbound Academy—a growing network of K-12 institutions built on a proven premise: students achieve a full year of academic growth in just two focused hours daily. The remaining hours? Dedicated to sailing, sports, public speaking, game design—whatever ignites passion.
Our platform integrates real-time progress dashboards, curriculum recommendations, and feedback tools—providing the structure for acceleration and the freedom for growth.
We're private equity-backed with long-term funding and a mandate to scale. This isn't experimental. The model works. Charter applications are active. Campuses are expanding. Now we're building the infrastructure to deploy wherever it can succeed.
WHY THIS ROLE?
This position offers what seasoned operators seek but rarely find: genuine authority, ownership, and measurable impact—without founding risk.
You'll Secure
Decision authority, not mere influence
A validated model with resources to scale
Direct educational impact without nonprofit constraints
Startup velocity backed by financial stability and growing national presence
You'll work directly with founders who prioritize speed, data, and tangible outcomes—not rhetoric or bureaucratic deliberation. This team has launched companies, scaled platforms, and validated the model. Now they need a builder who can systematically dismantle regulatory barriers to accelerate campus openings.
ARE YOU THE RIGHT FIT?
If you've analyzed complex launch sequences and thought, "With proper ownership, I could optimize this entire process"—this role offers the platform to prove it.
What You Will Be Doing
Orchestrating regulatory timelines across 25-30 simultaneous campus launches
Spearheading all state-level authorizations, licensing, and compliance filings
Executing local permitting processes across multiple jurisdictions (zoning, fire, building, operational)
Aligning execution between legal, real estate, and operations teams
Creating and implementing a scalable regulatory playbook that systematically reduces time-to-launch
Establishing authoritative relationships with regulatory officials across multiple states and municipalities
What You Won’t Be Doing
Implementing someone else's system—you'll architect the regulatory strategy from first principles
Passively tracking application status—your role demands actively securing approvals and driving outcomes
Sacrificing thoroughness for speed—you'll master both simultaneously
Managing sequential launches—you'll orchestrate multiple concurrent openings across diverse jurisdictions
Operating in a departmental silo—you'll function at the critical intersection of legal, facilities, and operations
Creating bureaucratic complexity—your mandate is to simplify, accelerate, and eliminate obstacles
Deflecting regulatory accountability—you own both the process and the timeline
Senior Director Of Regulatory Operations Key Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive, on-time regulatory clearance across all campuses—ensuring each location opens precisely as scheduled with full legal and operational readiness.
Basic Requirements
We require a senior operator with demonstrated success navigating complex regulatory environments at scale—whether from elite consulting (MBB preferred but not mandatory) or high-stakes leadership in education, healthcare, real estate, or similar compliance-intensive sectors.
You Must Bring
3+ years leading multi-stakeholder projects with significant regulatory, legal, or operational complexity (market entry, M&A, infrastructure deployment)
Proven track record managing cross-functional timelines and deliverables with demonstrated ability to identify and eliminate bottlenecks
Exceptional ability to navigate ambiguous regulatory frameworks without prior subject-matter expertise—while building credibility with government and compliance authorities
Superior structured problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities developed in high-performance environments
Demonstrated capacity to operate with urgency, independence, and accountability in rapid-growth contexts
Proficiency leveraging AI tools to optimize workflows, regardless of technical background
U.S. work authorization and availability for 25% domestic travel (approximately one week monthly)
