Position Overview
The Director of Human Resources is responsible for the overall leadership of the human resources function including recruiting, onboarding, compensation management, employee relations, benefits administration, policy creation, and performance management. (Payroll reports through Finance). This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
As the Senior HR Leader, you will lead and execute on the HR strategy for the organization. As a synergetic subject matter expert, you will define HR functions including leading corporate culture, talent acquisition, leadership development, team engagement, DEI, and employee retention programs, collaborating with organization-wide leaders to attract, develop, and retain talent. Further, you will be key to building a talent acquisition culture with new processes, systems, and standards for recruiting. You will act as the key advisor and trusted thought partner to the entire Senior Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Acts as the SME on the executive leadership team and participates in executive level discussions.
- Serves a key role in creating a positive and supportive environment for all employees and ensures human resource practices throughout the organization comply with company policies and with applicable employment laws.
- Administers HR programs and functions, identifying and resolving HR issues impacting operations management and the business direction.
- Oversees and performs a range of human resources functions, including policy development and administration, staffing, compensation and benefits, and employee relations.
- Designs and executes performance, learning & development, training, and process improvements and leads full-cycle HR operations to optimize the employee experience and yield greater performance.
- Advocates for the employee, establishing a culture of excellence by gathering feedback to assess needs, anticipating outcomes, and introducing change management to produce consistent results.
- Collaborates with senior leadership team to shape the mission, vision, strategy, and direction of people operations including talent development, compensation, and organizational design.
- Develops trusting relationships, leads and optimizes high-performing teams, and coach individuals to maximize performance and potential.
- Enhances employee engagement by implementing innovative HR strategies and initiatives.
- Leads the administration of group employee benefit plans, working with benefits broker to improve and reduce costs of employee benefits programs.
- Ensures organizational compliance with federal, state legislation and other legal oversight required of the organization.
- Supervises the HR employees.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with a field of study that includes business, Human Resources, or other related field.
- Five or more years of experience in human resources management is required.
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification highly desired. Previous experience as a Director or C-Suite level experience.
- Extensive knowledge of human resource management issues, policies, programs, and regulations; including experience with recruitment and selection, classification and compensation, employee relations, performance management, HR information systems, risk management, equal employment opportunity, affirmative action, ADA and ACA.
- Preference is given to qualified Native American applicants in accordance with the Indian Preference Act.
