JOB TITLE
Senior Director, Marketing Shared Services Operations
Job Summary
We are seeking a seasoned, strategic leader to oversee both the day‑to‑day operations and the strategic evolution of our global marketing shared services function. As Senior Director, Marketing, Shared Services Operations, you will lead a combined team of program managers — aligned to revenue marketing teams to manage priorities and cross‑functional coordination — and project managers — responsible for project setup, timelines, and execution tracking. This role ensures that marketing’s shared services deliver projects on time, on budget, and to the highest standard, while continuously improving how we work.
The role encompasses three core priorities:
Business‑as‑Usual (BAU) Shared Services Oversight
managing governance, project workflow, and resourcing to keep shared services running efficiently and effectively.
Transformation
refining intake processes, improving resource allocation, and evolving the delivery model for greater speed, clarity, and impact.
Hybrid Right‑Shoring for Elastic Scale
designing and managing a model that complements in‑house capabilities with global partners, providing flexible capacity to meet changing business needs.
This is a pivotal leadership position that blends operational excellence with strategic vision — ensuring marketing’s shared services team delivers today while building the capabilities needed for the future.
Key Responsibilities
BAU Shared Services Oversight
Lead a combined team of program managers and project managers overseeing the delivery of work across marketing shared services. Ensure program managers are tightly aligned to revenue marketing teams to manage priorities and dependencies. Ensure project managers set up projects, establish timelines, track progress, and maintain project documentation. Manage workflow and resource allocation to meet service‑level expectations for speed, quality, and responsiveness. Monitor capacity and performance, adjusting assignments to maintain balance and service excellence.
Governance & Operations Leadership
Establish governance frameworks, operational standards, and KPIs to ensure consistent performance across initiatives. Partner with marketing and business leaders to prioritize work and align resources with strategic objectives. Provide coaching, leadership development, and career growth opportunities for the program and project management team.
Transformation Strategy & Execution
Lead initiatives to modernize intake, prioritization, resource management, and service delivery. Develop and operationalize an integrated marketing planning process to forecast demand, manage pipeline, and proactively align resources. Implement tools, systems, and workflows that increase transparency, improve delivery speed, and strengthen cross‑functional collaboration.
Hybrid Right‑Shoring Model Management
Design and manage a hybrid right‑shoring model that augments in‑house capabilities with global partners to flex capacity as needed. Select, onboard, and manage right‑shoring partners to ensure quality, brand consistency, and service alignment. Optimize the mix of in‑house and right‑shored resources for cost efficiency and scalability.
Portfolio & Program Oversight
Govern the global marketing project portfolio to ensure alignment with enterprise strategy and business priorities. Oversee program and project intake, prioritization, and health monitoring, including risk management and performance tracking.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Serve as the senior point of contact for leadership and stakeholders on shared services performance, capacity, and transformation progress. Provide executive‑level reporting on operational metrics, portfolio health, and strategic initiatives.
Financial Management
Oversee budgets for shared services operations and programs, ensuring alignment with marketing’s financial goals. Partner with Finance to track spend, forecast costs, and identify cost‑optimization opportunities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred. Additional certifications demonstrating proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g., PMP) strongly preferred.
Experience
10+ years in marketing operations, program/project management leadership, or shared services leadership within a fast-paced global marketing or creative services environment. Proven success leading BAU shared services while driving operational transformation. Experience implementing hybrid right‑shoring or distributed delivery models. Strong portfolio governance and resource planning expertise.
Skills
Executive‑level leadership, influencing, and decision‑making skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively to all levels of the organization. Mastery of delivery governance, program management, and capacity planning. Strong problem‑solving and organizational skills. Skilled in managing distributed, global teams and partner relationships.
Attributes
Strategic thinker with a bias for execution. Balances operational rigor with innovative thinking. Skilled at building trust and alignment across teams. Strong interpersonal and communication style that fosters collaboration and shared understanding. Comfortable leading through complexity and change in a fast-paced environment.
