JOB DESCRIPTION Your job is more than a job The Senior Director of Hospital Medicine at LCMC Health is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, clinical excellence, and operational performance of hospitalist services across the health system. This position ensures high-quality inpatient care, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, and drives initiatives that enhance patient outcomes, provider engagement, and system efficiency. Strategic Leadership • Develop and implement strategic plans for hospital medicine aligned with LCMC Health’s mission and goals. • Assist local hospital medicine leadership in quality improvement initiatives, including metrics for patient safety, clinical outcomes, and operational efficiency. • Collaborate with executive leadership to align hospitalist services with broader organizational priorities. • Provide system-level leadership to local HM medical directors • Support and lead both LCMC Health employed and academic HM physicians Clinical Oversight • Provide supervision and guidance to physicians and advanced practice providers leaders within the hospitalist services. • Ensure local groups are in compliance with medical standards, regulatory requirements, and infection control protocols. • Assist local hospital medicine directors in provider scheduling, call rotations, and coverage models to optimize patient access and provider well-being. • Establish consistent productivity and quality metrics based on LCMC system goals to be used in incentive plans for all HM providers Operational Management • Create and manage a LCMC HM flexible staffing group able to assist individual hospital HM groups when certain volume thresholds are met • Create and manage permanent LCMC HM groups in LCMC hospitals and eliminate staffing from outside of LCMC or the Schools of Medicine • Centralize support staff at the system level for all LCMC HM groups • Perform needs assessments for local hospitals regarding HM staffing • Create a governance structure for LCMC HM that includes both employed and academic HM physicians and APPs • Submit business proposal or pro forma when capital is needed for any operations • Other operational duties assigned by the Associate Chief Medical Officer for Critical Care Services Team Development • Collaborate with the physician group practices to consolidate all employed HM providers into one LCMC Health HM group practice • Facilitate communication between providers and administration, addressing concerns and promoting engagement. • Partner with LCMC Talent Acquisition in the recruitment and onboarding of new hospitalist team members. Innovation and Collaboration • Champion the use of data analytics and technology to enhance care delivery. • Encourage participation of the academic HM groups in the LCMC HM model of governance, oversight, resource sharing • Represent hospital medicine in system-wide committees and initiatives. • Partner with local hospital leadership to align goals of hospitals and LCMC HM Experience Qualifications Minimum of years of clinical experience in hospital medicine. Prior leadership experience in a healthcare setting strongly preferred. Education Qualifications Doctoral degree in Medicine or Osteopathy required. Completion of accredited residency training in Internal Medicine Licenses and Certifications Active Medical License through the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications from the American Heart Association. Preferred: Advanced certification in leadership or management (e.g. MMM, MBA, MHA). Skills and Abilities Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
