Senior Director of Development II - School of Dentistry

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a Senior Director of Development II with the Office of Advancement and School of Dentistry. This position will be expected to develop fundraising priorities and seek to grow philanthropic success through established metrics on an annual basis – including dollar, visit, solicitations and proposals presented goals. The incumbent will also lead and direct the operations of the University of Alabama School of Dentistry Alumni Association 501c3 including the coordination of alumni events and receptions, alumni weekend, alumni awards, and provide strategic guidance and support to members and volunteer leadership. The Senior Director II will be responsible for leading a team of fundraisers and alumni officers to surpass metrics while also providing coaching and mentorship.
This position will report to the Associate Vice President for Development.
This position is a hybrid eligible after the probationary period.
Duties & Responsibilities: Work with Dean, Department chairs and faculty to identify potential sources of private gift support and develop appropriate strategies to generate major and principal gifts to support the school.
Manage an overall strategic vision for the development and alumni office including developing and implementing fundraising strategies and plans.
Oversee all operations of the Dental Alumni Association and the Executive Council by providing strategic direction and working closely with alumni volunteer leadership to meet desired goals.
Raise major and principal gifts from multiple donor groups (corporates, foundations, alumni, and community). Annual Salary Range: $104,045 - $169,075
Qualifications
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business, or related field
Minimum 8 years of higher education fundraising or equivalent experience
Minimum of 5 years of major gift experience with demonstrated success
Work experience may not substitute for education requirement
Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business.
Current underwriting guidelines include possession a valid driver s license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Preferred Qualifications: Ability to conceive, plan and implement fundraising programs which focus on building internal and external relationships
Ability to lead and mentor a development and alumni staff while also successfully meeting performance metrics
Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
CRM usage and management
Stakeholder management (internal and/or volunteer)
Strong organizational, process and planning skills
Strong emotional intelligence, interviewing skills and able to receive and give constructive feedback
Advanced board management
Advanced portfolio management
