Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Senior Director, Communications to amplify our storytelling and mission impact. Drive financial and functional communications excellence, working closely with senior leaders across various departments. You will be responsible for leading a top-performing team and providing valuable counsel on the company’s most crucial matters.
How will you make an impact?
Define and elevate communications excellence across the finance organization, driving strategic, impactful, and measurable work that advances business goals and reputation.
Collaborate with the CFO and Investor Relations to spearhead proactive financial operations communication, and enhance external and internal messaging.
Develop enterprise-wide narratives on high-impact priorities including AI, innovation, productivity, and transformation initiatives ensuring Thermo Fisher defines and leads the conversation.
Manage a team of communicators partnering with functional leaders across the company including, HR, IT, Legal etc.
Guide enterprise-level communications on issues with broad impact, ensuring clear, trusted, and timely responses.
Serve as a bridge between group and functional communications, aligning strategies and disseminating consistent enterprise messages.
Develop and guide a top-performing team, encouraging the sharing of effective methods and cultivating upcoming leaders.
Advocate for tools and analytics that enhance communications, improve team efficiency, and evaluate impact.
Anticipate challenges, provide counsel, and resolve issues for senior executives and communications leaders.
How will you get here?
Education
Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, English, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
Experience
12–15+ years of integrated communications leadership, including financial communications and experience supporting senior executives.
Proven success elevating communications functions, building alignment in matrixed organizations, and reaching diverse audiences.
Outstanding abilities in planning, developing stories, and handling challenges.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Proficient understanding of science, technology, and finance, capable of simplifying intricate ideas—such as financial performance—into engaging communications for investors, customers, and employees.
Demonstrated financial competence by collaborating with Finance and Investor Relations teams.
Outstanding storytelling, writing, editing, and verbal communication skills; highly effective at influencing and advising senior leaders.
Ability to hire, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
Collaborative, business insight style with strong business sense and intellectual curiosity.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint); SharePoint content experience a plus.
Organized and diligent, capable of handling numerous tasks in a dynamic setting.
