We are seeking a Senior Director to oversee the engineering, implementation, and operational management of three critical post-trade software products (Cage, VPS, and OAES). These platforms manage the entire lifecycle of clearing and settlement workflows, including trade capture, netting, matching, reconciliation, and asset movement. This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone ready to take on more responsibility in the clearing and settlements domain.
The platforms involve diverse technologies, including distributed Java and mainframe systems, and include key customer implementations and strategic renewal initiatives across seven engineering teams. The role will also contribute to the strategic direction and implementation of the integrated platform from a settlements perspective.
This position involves managing teams within technology engineering, including the development, coding, and programming of applications for processing transactions in the clearing and settlement domain. It also includes engaging in business analysis to identify needs and develop solutions, as well as quality assurance, testing, and operations.
Responsibilities: Engineering & Delivery
Lead end-to-end engineering, enhancement, and operations of three core post-trade software platforms, ensuring scalability, security, and resilience.
Design, develop, modify, and implement solutions based on technology needs, including applications, systems architecture, network systems, and infrastructure.
Translate complex regulatory and business requirements into engineering plans; oversee the software development lifecycle and continuous delivery practices.
Manage the delivery of critical projects, including new features, regulatory updates, client onboarding, and platform integrations across global teams.
Guide technical decisions and architecture for backend systems, ensuring data integrity and operational reliability.
Lead development of program logic for new applications and modify existing logic.
Promote and improve agile engineering practices across teams in India, the US, and Canada, including code quality, automated testing, CI/CD, and documentation.
Implementation Leadership
Manage the implementation of new features, regulatory changes, and client onboarding, setting priorities and resource allocation.
Coordinate delivery schedules, environment readiness, deployment planning, and execution of cutovers.
Ensure readiness for market and regulatory deadlines and stakeholder deliverables.
Influence internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders.
Operational Excellence
Own production health, including monitoring, incident response, and performance management.
Lead root cause analysis for incidents and implement long-term solutions.
Partner with Infrastructure, SRE, and Security teams to maintain observability, availability, and compliance.
Represent engineering in audits related to the applications.
Global Team Leadership
Manage engineering teams across the US, Canada, and India under a matrix reporting structure.
Drive delivery, alignment, and collaboration across regions.
Coordinate with India leadership on HR and regional support.
Foster a unified engineering culture, encouraging knowledge sharing, mentorship, and ownership.
Provide coaching, performance feedback, and career development support.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience managing large engineering teams, preferably across multiple geographies.
Deep technical expertise in backend systems, APIs, distributed architectures, and financial platforms.
Proven success in managing production systems, incident response, and ensuring service reliability.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience working with Product, Operations, and Compliance teams.
Experience with agile methodologies, CI/CD, test automation, and documentation.
Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience in setting priorities, resource planning, and managing teams across time zones.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with post-trade systems, clearing, settlement, reconciliation, or asset/cash movement.
Knowledge of financial messaging standards like FIX, SWIFT, ISO 20022.
Experience with CCPs, clearing/settlement mechanisms, or settlement agents.
Understanding of North American or global financial regulations.
Experience with cloud-native systems (AWS), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and DevSecOps.
Familiarity with capital markets products (equities, derivatives, fixed income).
Salary Range: $180,000 - $225,000. Bonus eligible.
