Position Summary
The Senior Director Artificial Intelligence & Digital Transformation will lead the strategic development, implementation, and scaling of AI and digital solutions that advance the organization's mission, improve operational efficiency, and enhance engagement with constituents, donors, and partners. This senior leader will translate organizational goals into actionable AI strategies, ensuring initiatives are ethical, inclusive, and aligned with the organization's values and commitment to equitable health outcomes.
Initially reporting directly to the Office of the Chief Executive Officer, this role will oversee an AI & Automation Center of Excellence, manage enterprise-wide digital transformation efforts, and serve as the primary AI advisor to executive leadership. The Senior Director will foster cross-functional collaboration, drive innovation, and ensure successful adoption of transformative technologies across programs, services, fundraising, advocacy, and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute an enterprise-wide AI and digital transformation strategy aligned with the organization's mission, strategic plan, and operational goals.
- Identify short- and long-term opportunities to integrate AI into core functions, including research, fundraising, donor engagement, advocacy, marketing, and internal operations.
- Serve as the senior AI and digital transformation advisor to the executive team, shaping organizational culture toward innovation and ethical technology adoption.
- Champion responsible, transparent AI practices that comply with relevant regulations, data privacy laws, and sector-specific standards (e.g., HIPAA, if applicable).
AI & Digital Innovation
- Lead the design, pilot, and scaling of AI applications, including predictive analytics, generative AI, natural language processing, and intelligent automation.
- Collaborate with IT, data governance, and security teams to ensure infrastructure readiness, system integration, and operational viability of AI solutions.
- Continuously research emerging AI and digital trends, evaluating their applicability and potential to drive mission impact.
- Ensure AI tools augment rather than replace human interaction, prioritizing the enhancement of staff capacity and the quality of constituent experiences.
Change Management & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead change management efforts to ensure smooth adoption of AI and digital tools across the organization.
- Effectively communicate the vision, benefits, and ethical considerations of AI across the organization and its community, tailoring messaging to different stakeholders in alignment with executive strategy.
- Partner with Human Resources and Learning & Development to upskill staff in AI literacy and adoption of new technologies.
Team Leadership & Vendor Management
- Build and lead a high-performing, cross-functional team of AI engineers, data scientists, business analysts, and project managers.
- Establish and manage an AI & Automation Center of Excellence to set best practices, governance frameworks, and performance metrics.
- Oversee relationships with AI vendors, consultants, and technology partners, including contract negotiations and performance evaluations.
- Manage budgets, allocate resources effectively, and track ROI for AI and digital transformation initiatives.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Business, or related field; Master\'s or MBA preferred.
- Preferred 10+ years of progressive leadership in AI, machine learning, data analytics, or digital transformation, with at least 5 years in a senior executive role.
- Demonstrated experience implementing enterprise-scale AI or automation projects from concept to execution in healthcare, nonprofits, or other mission-driven sectors.
- Deep understanding of AI technologies, machine learning, natural language processing, automation, and ethical AI frameworks.
- Proven success guiding organizations through complex change management and digital adoption.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and lifelong learning, with the ability to adapt strategies and approaches in response to emerging technologies, evolving best practices, and organizational needs.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills to articulate AI's impact to diverse audiences.
Preferred
- Familiarity with fundraising, donor engagement, and patient or caregiver support workflows.
- Experience with platforms such as Salesforce, Workday, Microsoft Azure AI, or equivalent.
- Experience in a voluntary health association or nonprofit environment.

Position Location: US Remote, Full time
Position Grade & Compensation: Grade 513
Salary Range: The Alzheimer's Association's good faith expectation for the salary range for this role is between $170,600-$200,000
Bonus: This position is eligible for a bonus based on both individual and organizational performance, up to 6%
