Base pay range $159,000.00/yr - $239,000.00/yr The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. The AHA has two main offices, located in Washington, D.C. and Chicago. We are currently seeking a Senior Associate Director, Quality Policy for our Washington, D.C. office. This position is a hybrid role (three days in the office, two days working remote).

Starting base salary = $159,000- $199,000- $239,000 (commensurate with related experience). The AHA is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The Senior Associate Director, Quality Policy is responsible for supporting and leading multiple aspects of the American Hospital Association (AHA) work to shape federal quality and patient safety policy on behalf of America's hospitals and health systems. Key issues include selected Medicare quality measurement programs and the intersection of trade and supply chain policy with care delivery. Support AHA members in interpreting and understanding regulatory changes; engage in research and analysis that provides members and policymakers with additional insights; and represent the AHA and its members in policy forums, meetings with government and private sector officials, and multi-stakeholder forums.
Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Manage specific quality measurement policy issues for the AHA, including post-acute care and physician quality measurement programs. Contribute to AHA’s overall strategy on quality measurement and value programs. Engage hospital and health system members organizations in developing policy positions. In coordination with colleagues across the association, monitor hospital supply chains and advocate for effective policies that keep needed supplies available to hospitals, including developing an awareness of how trade policies, transportation policy and other issues impact the ability of hospitals to secure needed supplies. Monitor emerging innovations in care delivery, quality and safety, trade policy and supply chain management, identifying policy changes that are needed to enable members to succeed in the midst of innovation and change. Develop proposals for appropriate changes in policies. Develop and maintain relationships with senior government officials, state and national health care association executives, and the hospital community. Influence policymakers, such as Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Analyze legislation and regulations, supervise data analyses, and write regulatory advisories and comment letters. Develop and staff member webinars. Produce clear, concise issue and option analyses in oral and written formats in a variety of timeframes ranging from immediately through several weeks. Across all issues, collaborate and coordinate with the AHA federal relations and communications team members to support advocacy, public messaging, and the development of policy maker, member and public-facing materials.
